Ditto what they said

So look, I'm providing a novice's perspective. Mostly I've been studying electric guitar for the past year, and six months ago I also purchased an Epiphone EL-00 parlor model acoustic guitar. It came with a 12-gauge string set, and my hands revolted painfully to the stress and strain of almost daily practice. Finally, I had the guitar properly set-up with a set of D'Addario 10-gauge phosphor bronze coated strings recommended by my guitar tech. Honestly, I can't say my practice time much improved, never exceeding 20 minutes before my fretting hand began to ache and where I knew I'd be sidelined due to injury if I weren't careful. Like I said, I'm a guitar newbie, my preferred instrument is electric, and oh, I'm a new musician at 66 years of age. A few days ago I switched to a set of Martin silk & phosphor 11-47 custom strings, and WOW! They feel great and my dexterity on the fretboard is improved over that with higher tension strings. I think my guitar likes these strings too, because there's no discernible drop in volume and the tone sounds even more balanced than before. So if you're feeling old, challenged and in the way like I was, I recommend these strings to put some spring in your step.

Martin fx silk strings

I've tried a number of different strings Elixer nano web and Martin FX in custom light. The Martin FX Silk & Phosphor custom light give me a soft feel without loosing tone or quality of sound. While I will continue to use FX custom light strings on my D-18, I will use the FX silk & phosphor strings on my everyday guitar. They make playing more enjoyable!

My Absolute Favorite

I've tried a number of different brands looking for quality tone with a soft touch and I haven't been satisfied with any of them until I tried these wonderful Silk & Phosphor Custom lights. Easy on the hands, with good tone and volume. I recommend them to all my friends!

My new strings of choice

I've only had them on my guitar for a week, but I love them. I am more of an electric guitar player and hate having to get my hands used to playing an acoustic guitar. My acoustic guitar is always next to me, and it sees more action now that I have these strings. I feel like the sound is more clear as well. I think I finally found acoustic strings that I like!

Great feel and tone for a silk string

I had used other FX Martin strings and was very pleased with them. I decided to try these looking for a string that was easier on my old aching fingers. I was extremely pleased with these strings. The tone and volume was very good for a silk string. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a silk string. I would also say the Sweetwater service is second to none.
