This Powerful Control Surface Redefines Color Grade Editing!

We're excited to offer the revolutionary MC Color by Euphonix. It's an incredibly precise control surface designed specifically with Apple's Color 1.5 in mind. The MC Color's optical trackballs, trackwheels, rotary encoders, and programmable soft keys give you the control you need to streamline color grading for video. And while it's small enough to make on-set grading possible, you can also combine the MC Color with other Euphonix modules to create an advanced video editing system that lets you work the way you want to. Considering how easy it makes professional color grading, we are delighted to recommend the Euphonix MC Color!

The first thing you'll notice when you hook up the Euphonix MC Color is that every button, rotary encoder, and other moving part feels like the kind of quality engineering you need for absolutely precise parameter adjustment. Setup is a breeze, especially if you're using Apple Color 1.5 for which the MC Color was built - it truly defines "plug-and-play" simplicity! Each trackball and trackwheel automatically recognizes its color palette, and navigation controls lets you quickly negotiate Color's menus and jump from room to room. And when you jump from room to room inside of Color, the high-resolution OLED displays reflect the way the entire MC Color instantly recognizes the program's status. It couldn't be simpler! And while we're on the topic of convenience, you'll love the way that the eight sets of grade copy and paste buttons speed up your workflow.

If the MC Color is your only Euphonix media control module, you'll appreciate the power and simplicity of the EuCon control protocol. Not only is EuCon responsible for the constant, instantaneous communication between Color, and the MC Color, but it also lets you use the MC Color with multiple other applications and across multiple workstations. That means you get total control over your production programs, no matter how complex your system is, all from a single controller. And when you expand your system, we're sure you'll be impressed with how the Euphonix Artist Series media controllers clip together to build a larger, integrated video editing control surface with all of the functions you need to work in an efficient, headache-free manner.

Fantastic, Professional, Solid

Very solid build, well laid out, professional feel and response, feature rich, and easy to learn. What else can I say? I do a LOT of color work with Apple's Color, going out of an AJA Kona LHi to an FSI LM-2450W monitor. This control surface has cut my color time significantly, allow me more time to be creative. I'll never touch a mouse to color with again! I recommend reading the very helpful user manual cover to cover, then watch the video guide on Euphonix's web site, and you'll be good to go. You will have to watch accidentally hitting the track balls when you use one as a mouse controller. But I also have an MC Transport, so that's not an issue. This is well thought out, very useful, and a must have for anyone doing a lot of color work, and on a budget. If you only use Apple's Color occasionally, you may not remember the buttons, as you would if you use it often.

Very good, with some issues

When the board does what it is supposed to do, it is amazing. I do not know what I did before I had this amount of control. I love how many programs it works with (you can basically program it to work with any application to a certain degree by programming the soft keys through EuControl). It's nice and quiet so when I'm on set (movie/tv show/commercial/etc) I can work and not cause a disturbance. It connects fine to my Mac that I run Snow Leopard on, but it has some issues when i connect to my laptop that runs Lion. I have to start the laptop, then wait about 5 minutes, then power up the board then wait 5 minutes, then it will connect. Not great when I'm on set and need to power up/down and get moving. The EuControl just doesn't seem to like OSX Lion and AVID hasn't released any firmware updates to fix it. Maybe Mountain Lion is better? Also tried the static IP approach, didn't work. I wish I could select my own level of ball/wheel/knob sensitivity. In fact, the manual stats that you can do this by holding down the two PAGE keys and turning the first knob to adjust, but you can't. You have to do it through the individual application. REDCineX lets you do it and maybe another program, but the one I want it for most, Davinci Resolve, I can't...bummer. Overall I'm glad I bought it. I'm not even done paying it off yet (because of the installment payment plan) but it has already paid for itself. Nice.

Artist Color

First off, it's hard to imagine a product less supported by the factory than this one. Avid bought this product line from Euphonics, and it took them about a year just to get their name on the case! When you call the mother ship for help, the place is not teaming with expertise. It was designed to be used with Apple's Color program and FCP7, which has been all but run over by Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve (with a fully working free version if you can keep your files under 2k). It works just fine with Resolve, but it was not really designed to do so. Worry not. It works well. It hasn't always! The ECON driver system was the flakiest piece of software in my facility for years. The latest version (first quarter '14) works well and is recommended. I would rather have the 20k controller made by Blackmagic specifically for DaVinci Resolve. But if you, like I, are 18k or so short, this will work just fine. And it's worth the money. Color correcting "with the balls" is a far more accurate, efficient and satisfying experience than choking a mouse. As always, Sweetwater's service is first rate.
