Mesa/Boogie 5U4G Rectifier Tube Reviews
The MESA 5U4G rectifier tube is a classic 1930s "Coke Bottle" design. It produces a flexible, elastic feel that is a bit more controlled and slightly less "saggy" than the 5U4GB. It has a nice spongy feel but has moderate life expectancy and reliability. Due to its tall "Coke Bottle" design, this tube may not fit in all amplifiers. Please confirm the height between the amp chassis and the cabinet before choosing this tube (The Rectifier is part of the Power Supply and its purpose is to convert AC into DC).

An interesting tube
These give you a more controlled elastic feel than the standard rectifier tubes. There's enough room for these in my Triple Rectifier and in my MarkV. I confirmed with Mesa/Boogie that you can mix these with the standard rectifier tubes for precise control over your rectifier's response. Even one of these in a Triple Rectifier will make a difference. The standard rectifier tube is part of the Mesa sound we all know and love but these are worth a try if you want a different, and tighter feel.
