Not just for cameras

Twice now I have run into vintage ribbon microphones whose yokes terminate in the threaded 1/4" hole -- one, an AIWA look-alike of the RCA 77DX, the other, an Altec 639A. This adapter is the answer to having them fit on standard 5/8"-27 stands.

Works great!

This piece allows me to use one of my mic stands as a tripod for my iphone camera. This combined with my iphone camera mount by Joby lets me record a video as I'm tracking. It does exactly what it says.

Spend the extra for the CM01

This works, but you'll need the boom attached to your stand to aim the camera; otherwise, the mic stand has to be on perfectly level ground and extend to exactly the right height. And without a rubber washer, it has to be screwed down completely and then pointed by twisting the boom. Adjusting with the boom is a nuisance compared to the ease of the swivel-joint on the CM01, so spend the extra $6 and get it. I bought the CM01, then thought I'd try this. For $4 how badly could I go wrong? Answer: $4. Yeah, I could use it, but I won't; I'm ordering a 2nd CM01.
