The industry standard from mixing to scratching. Cheap needles for your wheels of steel are like hubcaps for your Hummer! Get these needles!
The Shure M44-7 has been my first-choice turntable cartridge for 15 years. These things stay in the groove like nothing else. If you're a battle DJ and you aren't using these, you're missing out!
Best bang for your dollar!
This is an all-around great cartridge. Not only is it good for scratching, but cueing, and overall sound quality puts these at the tip top of my list of favorite DJ cartridges. With the proper care, these will last you a very long time, and replacement needles are reasonably priced. I could say more, but that is all you really need to know. Will probably not buy any other in the future.
Shure M44-7 rocks
once i put these bad boys on and hit start,i could tell the difference right away.using DVS i know that needles really don't make that much of a difference when compared to reg vinyl, but the sound is great and the tracking even better..no skipping or jumping around when scratching.and clear signals in my Traktor Pro 2 program.best thing is once you get the cartridges, the replacement styli knocks the price in half!!
Shure! It's sure worth it.
The overall performance is so much more than expected. Hearing is believing.
Great, Sound - Appreciable Difference!
It's always difficult to write an objective review for something as objective as gear and sound, but this needle makes a huge impression. There is definitely an appreciable difference to the clarity of sound you get with the M44. I use it for production purposes, and I can notice a clear difference when I've made a beat with older samples culled using an older needle mixed with newer samples culled with this needle. I'd highly recommend for anyone looking for a simple and inexpensive means to upgrade your sound quality and production values if you're doing Hip-Hop or sample-based production.
I didn't give it a 5 rating because it was admittedly difficult to actually install this. I broke one of the wires because it was far too tight and would not fit the connectors. Luckily, I had older wires that fit. Other than that, great product.
Shure sounds good!
I received the M44-7 cartridge today and unpackaged it and began to install it into the headshell of my 1977 PROJECT/one DR-V turntable. I decided to use the wires that were included with the cartridge. I quickly discovered that the barrel ends of the wires are triangular in shape (not round) so I had great difficulty getting them to slip unto the headshell pins- two of the connectors broke. I had to resort to using some of the old wires that I already had. That really is my only complaint here. Once I aligned the cartridge with my trusty "Stephenson" protractor, set my tracking weight, and checked tonearm height, I was ready for it's first spin. Knowing that this is a "bass-heavy" cart I decided to put my 12" single of Yes' "Leave It" (remix) on for the test spin. WOW! Big, defined, bass! Tons of output and the highs sound quite good, too. This will even sound better after it breaks-in. So, I conclude that this is a great cartridge and it tracks well and is forgiving with vinyl that is old and worn. Pops and clicks are much quieter with this cart since it is a conical stylus (not elliptical). I am very happy with this purchase- Sweetwater is the best!
