Great amplified tone!

I have several acoustic guitars including an early 90's Gibson Chet Atkins that I wanted to restring and ordered these. I think they sound great on the Chet amplified as volume is not a problem. I'd prefer something else for an unamplified box guitar for more sustain and volume. This is not a knock! They are very easy on the fingers and very forgiving with no screechy sounds. I love them for vocal accompanyment with the solidbody amplified Chet, as I do a seated acoustic act. They are very toneful and fill a niche for amplified instruments that no other strings do. I'll probably give the Marquis's a go as well as they have the actual exposed silk near the ends to help save your bridge. I recommend! Part timer out!

Martin Silk and Steel Strings.

I have used these strings, since I first started owning Martin Guitars in the 60's. And use them on all of my acoustic guitars.. They are kind to your fingers, kind to your instrument, and if you use a pick up in your acoustic guitar, they pick up perfectly, because of the steel. I insist on them for my students, and I also insist that fresh strings, at least every two months is necessary. Sweetwater is the most prompt, and has the best price that can be found. And here is a tip: when you change your strings, hold them up out of the groove in the nut, until they are almost at tension, so that drawing them through the groove does not wear it.

Works well for small guitars

I use these on a Martin Backpacker travel guitar, an instrument that can sound somewhat harsh with bronze wound strings.

Smooth strings with mellow tone.

Easy on the fingers and removed a lot of twanginess from my Washburn Rover travel guitar. Easier to fret. Great choice for more comfortable playing, more rounded sound.

Happy Customer

These are the only strings for me. Easier to play than any others.
