Get Studio Acoustic Guitar Sound Live!

The LR Baggs Lyric Classical pressure zone acoustic guitar microphone strikes a balance between the fidelity of high-end studio microphones and the indispensable feedback resistance of piezo pickups. The next step in LR Baggs's Tru Mic technology, the Lyric Classical microphone introduces several new patented technologies, including a unique noise-cancellation system that eliminates the boxiness associated with under-saddle acoustic guitar mics, while conveying the sweet highs and powerful low end you'd expect from an external microphone. Whether you're recording in the studio of playing out live, you're going to be impressed by the sound quality you get from your LR Baggs Lyric Classical microphone.

LR Baggs Lyric Classical Under-saddle Acoustic Guitar Microphone at a Glance:
  • The feedback-fighting power of a piezo with the sound of a studio microphone
  • Patent-pending technologies provide unbelievably high-fidelity sound
  • Painlessly simple installation will have you up and playing in no time
The feedback-fighting power of a piezo with the sound of a studio microphone

When it comes to capturing the sound of your favorite acoustic guitar, there's really no question about it: nothing sounds as good as a quality condenser microphone. But in most cases, using a sensitive studio mic live is a recipe for instant feedback. And while piezo pickups offer high gain before feedback, they seldom sound fantastic. Thanks to its unique pressure-zone design and under-saddle position, the LR Baggs Lyric Classical microphone is able to capture full and vibrant acoustic tone, while remaining shielded from feedback-causing reflections. There's no doubt about it, the Lyric Classical is the system to get for full and accurate acoustic sound.

Patent-pending technologies provide unbelievably high-fidelity sound

One of the drawbacks of using an internal acoustic guitar microphone is the boxiness of their sound. By placing the featherweight pressure-zone microphone element less than 3mm from the top of your guitar, the LR Baggs Lyric Classical effectively uses the most resonant part of your instrument as its diaphragm. The rest of the magic occurs in the "black box" technologies within the Lyric Classical itself. This includes a noise-canceling system that rejects the boxy midrange reflections outright plus one bit of genius circuitry that tightens your low end, and another that sweetens your highs no matter how hard your play. The effect is nothing short of astonishing.

Painlessly simple installation will have you up and playing in no time

If you already have a bored-out strap pin, then installing the complete LR Baggs Lyric Classical microphone and preamplifier system is freakishly simple. First, you attach the microphone itself to the underside of the bridge plate via a simple, ultra-thin peel-and-stick adhesive pad, and the soundhole controls mount similarly. The Lyric Classical's endpin preamp is simple enough to set in place too, but we'd recommend having a professional, such as one of the experts in Sweetwater's own guitar workshop, do the actual drilling and installation. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for further details.

Amazing (For Me!)

Installed the Lyric myself in my 2014 Marlon Navarro Flamenco Blanca with pegs. Couldn't be happier. Did my research after using only B-Band AST in my other guitars for years, and needed a more natural sound - less quack and boom. Beside placement ( Second Treble fan brace, between bridge and soundhole) sensitivity adjustment is a must. It took a few adjustment with the supplied tool to get the right balance of highs, and to reduce the "boomy" effect, but so simple a chimp could dial it in. Pretty lightweight as well, and only minor modification to the end block is needed. Stop reading and buy it!

Amazing Pickup

I have to admit two things one I did not get my Lyric at Sweetwater and two I thought I would not like it. I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound of this fantastic pick up (L.R. Baggs Lyric). When placed and tuned properly it truly depicts a true sound as a microphone would of a nylon string guitar in my case in Córdoba 45FP, the glops and taps sound good too. As I got back to Fresno by 3:30pm I was able to try the pick up with my system and it sounds fantastic looking forward to my 7 o'clock start time this evening. Even though it looks like it's an easy install it's worth having a luthier set it up for you as they can help find the best placement for it. I also run my pickup with the Line 6 Wirless to a BBE Acousticmax and it sound great. I can also report it worked great for tonight's gig,

pretty cool - a couple of nits

this is a cool rig. I am giving it 4 stars because its in an inexpensive Yamaha nylon string, and I installed it myself, so there is a definite chance that the installation might not be A-1. What I like - pretty well replicates the acoustic sound of the guitar. Tapping the top of the guitar comes through as well so if you do some pseudo-flamenco techniques you get all that. Tuning the presence control does give you some variations in high end, much more noticeable going into UA 610 solo > Duet 2 > Logic than going into either an Acoustic Image Clarus / Raezors Edge Twin 8 tower or an AER Alpha 40. What I am unsure about - limited volume range before feedback (to be fair amp was a couple feet behind me at waist height so not optimally located for feedback. Through either amp, there seems to be not much gain on hand from the internal endpin preamp. I have to turn the amp up much higher to get a comparable volume to fingerpicking on my Larivee L-03 with Fishman Piezo.
