Loxx Strap Lock System for Guitar and Bass - Chrome Reviews

Strap Lock System for Electric Guitar and Bass with Tool and Manual - Chrome

When taking the stage, the last thing you need to worry about is your instrument’s security! That’s why Sweetwater recommends installing a Loxx strap lock system on your electric guitar or bass strap. The original design for the Loxx strap locks was invented in 1924 by Thomas Morton as an innovative way to secure convertible car tops, so you can be sure it can secure your guitar strap. You get two Loxx pins, two Loxx locking heads and washers, a Loxx tool, and a manual. Installation is simple, and the Loxx system has easy, one-handed release and engagement — it can even resist pull-out force up to 220 pounds. It’s never been so easy to slip your guitar or bass on and off as it is with the Loxx strap lock system.

Glad I tried this strap lock

By Lee Heberlein from Scottsdale, AZ on May 4, 2014

Very nice. Low profile, no over kill with this strap lock. Compared to the strap lock I used in the past this one is more to my liking. I like it so much I'm buying another set for my acoustic guitar right now.

Fits Great in Les Paul

By William Barber from Black Mountain, NC, USA on January 8, 2014 Music Background: Guitarist

The screws fit perfectly fine in both holes of my Les Paul. No toothpicks. No concerns at all. Both snug fits. Granted the front hole was a bit more snug, but I screwed them in with the hand tool provided and it was reasonably hard to get them snug against the felt washer. And that's another thing -- Felt Washers. Gibson doesn't even provide felt washers. Very low profile. That's why I bought it. Very easy installation. I found that I needed to trim the "corners" of the strap hole so that it fit without stretching. A less particular user would not need to do this.

NIce, low profile

Great, low profile locking. Easy to snap on or off. Excellent quality
Great for a guitar like my SG with the strap pin on the back of the body.
Just ordered my second set for another guitar.

Nice addition to my Les Paul

These strap locks are simply the best I've ever had! Well worth twice the price I paid.

looks great, low profile

By Sweetwater Customer from Asheville, NC on December 9, 2012 Music Background: Touring Musician

Very easy to install, just don't lose the tool that comes with it to loosen/tighten the part on the strap. Seems pretty sturdy, I don't jump around on stage but with a 200lbs force limit I don't see anyone having any problems with this coming loose (unless your guitar for some reason weighs more than 200lbs).

Loxx strap locks for guitar

By M. Phelps from New Jersey on October 7, 2012 Music Background: Current hobbyist; instrumentalist in school.

Best guitar strap locks I've found. Super easy to attach and detach; extremely secure. Comes with handy tool that you can keep on your keychain.

The screw post is also ideal as it is a bit thicker and longer than other strap lock posts. Once once installed it doesn't protrude as much either.

You can't go wrong. They even have a package for acoustic guitars that incudes a drill bit and alternate post option.

Simply the best

By Sergio Adarve from Colombia on June 18, 2012 Music Background: Recording Engineer, Guitarist for almost twelve years

I got this three days ago, and i really love them, they look really nice on my SG Standard, and the height of the screws was perfect.

Also it is really cool that they come with the assembly tool, because that will make the installation much easier and straight forward, in the other way Loxx seems to have done them really well, they dont fell loose, they just seems secure and good looking.

A Better Mousetrap?

By Silvercrow from Bucks County, Pa. on January 8, 2018 Music Background: Semi-pro, 40+ years

The saying goes "If you build a better mousetrap, customers will beat a path to your door" or something like that... I think we can all agree; our guitars are prized possessions and such investments of money and time are well worth paying the money to get a good product to ensure the future security of them. I've been using straplocks for many many years now, but my previous favorite has a relatively high / thick profile. Doesn't cut it in use with my SG- and my quest for a lower profile straplock led me to thee. German made (they have always been excellent designers / machinists) and seem to be of very high quality. The low profile suits my SG- gets the strap in close to the guitar so it rides right. Supplied screws- SMART move Loxx! They are a coarser thread and fit snugly into the existing holes (Take note, straplock manufacturers beginning with D and S!). ALSO, relative to attaching it to the strap; I too, use a thicker leather strap. The threads on the unit / receiver "halves" are such that they are easy to start. I was concerned as the "button" side didn't "clear" the strap thickness. BUT- a little (very little) pressure and 1/4 twist started them and the teeth held fast against the leather. I did not have to trim at all. Nice snug fit!

Time will tell if they hold up- my other German straplocks have lasted me decades with just a drop of lubricant every now and then. Loxx are rated at 200+ pounds. I trust I'll not be putting that kind of pressure on the straplocks!

SO- a winner in all categories except longevity, which will determine with time. I really like these! The only possible problem might be losing the little tool and not having the dual "pointed" end to remove / secure the strap units.

They work for me

By Sam from USA on October 3, 2023 Music Background: New

They don't seem to have any flaws. They were a touch larger than the screws that came in the bass and the part that goes in the strap was frustrating to get together but once that's done these are great. No accidental disconnects, no drops, and nothing seems worn. I am new to bass but mess with it every day and these are getting used. A professional may want something else but these are great for me.

Loxx strap locks

By Jim from Chesterton, Indiana on November 13, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist

I've used a few different brands of strap locks and they all seem to do the job well.
I like these locks because they fit close to the guitar and do not stick out far like most locks do.
They may not be as strong as other brands claim to be but I doubt you would ever exert more than 200 lbs of pull on your guitar strap anyway.
Well made, look good and are priced good.

Nice - but not perfect

By Sweetwater Customer on July 2, 2017

I bought Loxx Strap Locks for two of my guitars. This is a well-made German product with excellent finish and it looks cool installed.
However - I was not completely elated with them because its low-profile look means that in order to put these on thicker leather straps (like I use on all my instruments requires a good bit of work cutting the leather away from the opening so that the stem of the lock can get through a thick strap.
Yeah - I got it done and it feels very solid, but doing it was a major hassle. In my opinion, it should be stated clearly that if you use thick straps to buy the XL version of this product.

No thank you

By Thomas from Lafayette,La on March 10, 2016 Music Background: semi pro

I bought a set of these for my Gibson Les Paul traditional. Within about three months the guitar almost hit the floor twice. On the button closet to the neck it started wearing away at the ball end.All you had to do was turn the strap and it would pop off. I contacted the manufacturer and was told to return them and they would send me a new set. I returned them and never heard from them again. Switched to Schaller and never looked back.
