Simple to use I like that. I used Steinberg recording software last time around. I prefer ableton as it comes with a cd disk which was needed during recent pc upgrade.

Abelton Live 9 Intro

I acquired this program mainly to run backing tracks to support live musicians in a performance situation. It was used recently for a 20 song concert. Worked Wonderful! Click and cues sent out to musicians, three other sub mixes sent to the house which also went back to musician's in-ear monitoring. Since it is the Intro version, we had to develop the show in 4ths, with breaks to allow for me to call up the next set. The intro version will only allow 8 "songs" in a session. So beware if you think you can run as many tracks (songs) as you want. You will need the next version which I plan on upgrading. I ran it in session view for the show. Just now getting into exploring options with arrangement view.

If you have any background in DAWs and MIDI production, this is pretty easy to figure out. I am starting to get into the deeper functions with sending program / control changes for music, lyrics and lights. Unfortunately there aren't too many tutorials around that get into the nitty-gritty with the "harder stuff". So at this point it has been trial and error on my part. I'm not using it as a "beat producer" / composer would. I prefer my other DAWs to compose/produce in more of a "traditional" manner.

If you are looking for a way to add backing tracks and enhance your live show. I highly recommend this product!

Ableton LIve 9 Intro

We'd been using, for the a long time, a 2nd hand Korg DS-1600 recording deck. But finally decided to get into the 21st century.(15 years late). We bought the Focusrite Scarlett Solo and it came with the "Lite" version(8 tracks max). The learning curve is fairly modest and after trial and error got the basic hang of it. There is, of course, more expensive DAW software out there, but we found this GUI easy to configure and navigate, and the built in tutorials are very good too. Once we understood how the 'plug-ins' worked, it's gotten much easier to produce home recordings using the Fishman Triple Play and EZ Drummer w/Latin expansion pack(bought from Sweetwater also) We upgraded to 'Live' because we needed the 16 tracks after adding more percussion and keyboards to our arrangements. Running this on a Dell 1720, dualcore 2.0GHz, Win7-64bit, 4GB memory, 64GB Solid State disk with a 250GB 2nd drive. It's, of course, not as 'snappy' as the latest and greatest but we're on a strict budget, we took this laptop out of retirement, and works fine for me. Very satisfied with the product and glad to have an actual disk with the software, not a download. We Fix Flats! likes~!

Although I'm nowhere near as deep into this software as you can go yet, I was blown away at how DAW's are so accessible in this day and age! Granted, you get out what you put in, but it's unbelievable to be able(no pun intended) to have this software on a laptop to play around with wherever/whenever you want. I literally can't wait for the next time I have a free minute to play around every time I close my laptop... and this is just Intro!!!

Ableton Intro

Not bad for the money. As a guitarist I bought it to just loop guitar parts .. I am not really using it like all the video online show. I would love to have the standard version and Push but for $99 this is good .. I also use a Korg M50 and EZ Drummer.. and it all works good with the intro version and sync's up real nice to the Korg. The only thing I have to work around is I only get one stereo input, so i run a mixer in front of it Audio Interface to select between keys or guitar. . I like it just fine..
