1258 Legend

Hello, I purchased the Eminence 1258 Legend to replace the blown speaker in a Roland Cube 60. This amp is hard to find any speaker other than what comes original in it to fit, and the Eminence is no exception. This is not the fault of Eminence -- Roland should have cut the baffle hole about a 1/4" bigger (1/8" per side). After grinding the baffle hole out and getting the speaker installed (Still a tight fit, this amp should also have been made with all the cab dimensions about an inch bigger, not much room in there, especially on top where the amp chassis is mounted and hangs down into the speaker hole) it sounds much better than the stock speaker, the tone controls seem more active, and the amp just sounds better to my ears. I haven't compared this speaker to anything other than what came stock from Roland in the Cube though. As a die hard Marshall guy who doesn't much care for any solid state amp, I can say this speaker is a definite upgrade from the original and the amp is at least usable now. I imagine this speaker would really shine in a properly built cab in 1X12, 2X12, or 4X12 being pushed by a nice tube amp. Definitely a winner. This was my first experience with Sweetwater. All went well, and I look forward to dealing with them again in the future.

Great Repalcement Speaker

I had a new combo box made for a Super Champ X2 so I could use a 12" speaker. What a difference. It sounds great with great "ouch" and marvelous Fender cleans.

great value and performance

I got a quartet of these to resurrect an old 4 x 12 cab collecting dust in the basement. Driven by an old Musicman HD130 head that I am using as the power amp in a rack type set up, these things ROAR at mid volume.Throaty mids, good bass and a smooth top end. the head is set at the 1/2 power (65watt) setting. The reason I say "mid" volume is I can't really push the amp all the way withou it blowing my head off even at 1/2 power. I love the tone (think old school Fender with a hint of Brithish break up) and the fact that these take only a little coaxing to move some serious air. Plus at 75 watts ea. I feel safe that I'm not killing them with the amp. And that's straight out of the box! Once the cones start flexing a little more, I have every hope of these being 5 star speakers, but since I've only had about 10 hrs on them so far, they get 4.5

Replacement speakers

Working as expected. Painless ordering and quick delivery, no excuses. Making noise in a Silverface project amp again.
