Incredible little tool for Live 9!

If you are needing more buttons to control Live 9, and don't want or need the space that the Launchpad takes up, then this baby is for YOU! I can't say enough about it. Just get one, set it up in Live 9's Preferences windows and you are good to go. I love it! I'm launching samples created with EW, Goliath, etc. in DP8 imported by dragging and dropping them and it works flawlessly. Thanks so much Yuval for the assistance in making this happen. Sweetwater is just the greatest.

Ableton On the Go Has Never Been Better!!!

First I would like to say that I have been using controllers for quite some time. I have dealt with an array of products both professionally and at home. I have been disappointed a plethora of times with different manufacturers out there. I will not name them out of good taste. When I first looked into the Launchpad series I thought it was a good idea but I did not know how it would work with Ableton. Never the less I decided to take the plunge and try this little guy out. When I opened the box I was impressed with the thought and care that went into the packaging. I was reminded of when I first purchased an iPod. The packaging was clean and pristine. I was, dare I say, impressed. Once I unboxed it I was able to connect it to my Mac with the slightest of ease. No drivers needed. Let that sink in. No. Drivers. Needed. This was a big win for me (Not that it was rocket science to download a driver either way). I then launched Ableton. This is where I began to have a bit of trouble. I thought that Ableton was going to recognize it right away, at least that is what I was told. I was able to find the User Guide on the Novation site and see the steps that I needed to take to set this thing up. Once I made the appropriate changes, viola!!!! I was in business. I later found out that I was on an older version of Ableton and therefore it did not setup the Launchpad Mini when Ableton launched. Once the Launchpad Mini was set with Ableton I was able to use the controller with my previous Live Sets as if it was already a part of my work flow the whole time. Let it be known I do not use Ableton for your typical application. I use Ableton to launch clips with sounds and effects for a podcasts and radio but I do dabble on the occasional club banger from time to time. So far I have been able to utilize the Launchpad Mini for my needs with great ease. It has definitely helped being able to control the parameters in Ableton from the Launchpad Mini itself. I rarely find myself using the mouse on my computer anymore!!!!! Aside from the functionality of the Launchpad Mini I also loved the pads and how they lit up!!! The build of this controller is pretty solid as well. The one gripe I have is the USB port but that was not much of an issue for me to dock it some points. All in all, I love this little guy. For the price you will not find anything better or comparable to the Launchpad Mini. Next stop Launchpad Pro!!!!

Fantastic Option for the lower budget

The launchpad mini has been absolutely fantastic considering its cheap price point. The plastic construction and smaller buttons may give pause to some people but its felt reasonably sturdy and responsive to me in my month or so of use. I've found the interface to be reasonably straightforward and easy to decipher, though i did admittedly watch a few youtube tutorials on it before purchase (which i'd recommend anyone else do to make sure they're getting the most from the launchpad mini). Additionally worth checking out is the usermade Launchpad95 expansion, which is an unofficial nondestructive functionality update that will add additional features onto the launchpad such as multiple step sequencers and an enhanced instrument mode for live performance in ableton.

Budget Friendly Ableton Control Surface

The compact size and low price is inviting for anyone wanting a simple interface for Ableton Live. This works right out of the box, no software to install if you already use Ableton. The one thing that I wish was different is the fact that the buttons only have red, yellow, and green lights. They do not match the clip colors in Ableton, so you have to really pay attention to which clip you are launching...so you still have to look at the laptop screen to see where you are at. Overall, the quality of the launchpad is topnotch, this thing is built to last. Love the small size, fits right in my laptop bag. And you can't beat this value for the price.
