Built with original appointments

The Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard acoustic guitar carries a lot of obvious tilts of the hat to the sought-after L-00s of that era. Things like the silk-screened Gibson headstock logo, vintage sunburst finish, V-shaped neck profile, and vintage-style tuning keys. But one of the most important additions to this model is a bit more hidden. The L-00 Standard is constructed with hide glue, just like the originals. Often considered a superior, and better sounding method, the hide glue construction on the bracing ensures the guitar sings like a true classic.

Stripped-down vintage looks

One of the calling cards of the original L-00 acoustic guitars is the beautiful and straight-forward sunburst finish. Because the first L-00s were meant to be inexpensive guitars, they don't carry a lot the ornamentation of some of their higher-priced siblings. Because of that, the simple sunburst finish has become a recognizable and desired finish on these gems. The Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard's finish radiates this same look, so your ears and hands aren't the only things feeling right at home on a vintage-style instrument.

Get amazing sound onstage courtesy of LR Baggs Element electronics

The Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard comes with LR Baggs's popular Element Active VTC acoustic pickup system, a popular choice among Sweetwater's acoustic guitarists. This system features a low-profile under-saddle transducer that's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar and improve the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. Combined with an onboard preamplifier with an unobtrusive and removable volume control, mounted just inside the soundhole, the Element gives your Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard the amplification you need, with zero compromises for tone or convenience.

Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Recreation of a classic vintage acoustic guitar
  • Use of hide glue for top bracing
  • Solid Sitka spruce top offers great projection and tone
  • Solid mahogany back and sides offer warm, round sound
  • Compound dovetail hide-glued neck joint for outstanding resonance transfer
  • Nitrocellulose finish enhances the instrument's tonal qualities
  • Plek setup delivers optimized performance
  • LR Baggs VTC electronics transfer every nuance of your tone to your PA or amp
  • Hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity included
The Gibson Acoustic L-00 Standard is proof that they do make them like they used to.

Gibson L-00

This is a great guitar! Has very nice woody tone from strumming (with a slightly larger than normal 1.00mm thick pick) and fingerpicking. The neck has a comfortable shape and plays nicely. Obviously we would wish all Gibson acoustics came with a compensated saddle for the "g" string. But that and the crappy grover tuners being the only drawbacks, I have to say I do love playing this thing. Put some GHS vintage bronze strings on it and it really sounds nice and warm like a campfire in July. I did hear it compared to a 90's Santa Cruz of similar body size, and although it didn't have that sparkling standout chord tone, it did have it's own thing going on. Definitely comparable in my opinion, also cheaper. I hope in time it warms up even more and harkens back to the 30's whence it was conceived.

Must Have

This is one awesome guitar! As far as acoustics I've always been a Taylor guy. I also know the blues heritage behind this Gibson L-00 so I got really interested. I love guitars, and and based on a lot of online research took a chance buying sight unseen (again) from Sweetwater (mainly because I trust em!) Wow! I'm so glad I did. My L-00 seems pretty bullet proof and has a great tone. The LR Baggs electronics sound great! I feel good about my choice and my addition to my mini fleet.Luuuuuuvvvvvvv this Gibson!
