    Recording on a student's budget

I am a college student who has a limited budget for "toys" but when I was asked to record our school's choir in their Home Coming concert last year I did not have quite the right mics. This is where my sales engineer Josh Dillon came in and recommended the LSD 2 from Studio Projects. I was a bit apprehensive at first but after using them just once I was hooked. This mic was far more versatile than I could have imagined. Needless to say the choir director was very pleased with the recording and many of the tracks made it on the choir's latests album. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone not just those of us who are on a budget.

I purchased my SP LSD-2 from Craig at Sweetwater about a month ago. Ordered it on a late friday afternoon from California and got it saturday morning! (he overnighted it). This is a very nice mic for the money. I use it for mostly live recordings of my band through an Apogee Mini-me and it sounds very big and smooth. I especially like the switchable polar patterns. You just have to be careful as this is a very sensitive mic, capable of high sound pressure levels and it can overload the front end of mic many pres. Once you get used to setting it's level, it records very well. I often use the low cut filter as this mic reproduces alot of bass. At first I thought that the low cut filter was set too high at 150hz, but after using it, I have found that it is more useful at 150hz than if they would have set it at 80 or 100.

The mic has a very clean sound and detailed transients come through with
no detectable change. The shock mount is very useful in aligning the mic
with the source. i believe that this mic will become a staple in reomte recording
    venues.
