Impressive Les Paul
I bought this recently and have been putting it through the paces. The neck is the right size as far as late 50's. Felt as comfortable as my '91 lp studio. The 57's in this thing are fantastic. Can't praise them enough. Powerful and sweet. All the sounds of our favorite Les Paul players are there. The finish is also beautiful on this. Love the burst on it. No flaws that I could find in the fretboard, binding or finish. As far as the set up, I'm impressed also. The hybrid (9-46) strings feel right on this guitar. You can bend easy, and the transition from high to low strings is very natural. Noticed the strap buttons are bigger now. Hooray! Also the jack plate is metal. It stays in tune very well, although I will keep an eye on these Kluson style tuners. They can be hit or miss, but these seem to be doing the job. And yes, it is a beast as far as weight. But once you plug in, you understand why. The hollowed out les pauls since 2005, just can't compete with the sound of this traditional. Pure gratification. Looks like Gibson is back on their game. Now as far as cost, I only bought this due to the Sweetwater purchase promotion. It is pricey, but they made it affordable. Gibson prices have skyrocketed over the last few years, so when it came down some for 2016, I looked into the possibility. Overall, it's an awesome guitar and I hope this helps.
