Updated vintage appointments

Gibson's latest Custom Shop additions include appointments to add even more vintage vibe to their guitars. Necks and fretboards are now attached using hide glue, which many argue sounds better than synthetic glue. Gibson Custom Shop also reengineered the truss rod, truss rod washer, and anchor to their original form. They also eliminated the tubing that surrounded the truss rod. Kluson Green Key Tuners now feature proper vintage profile, color, and performance specifications. Take it from the guitar experts at Sweetwater - these features and others make the Gibson Custom Shop Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul an amazing re-creation of a classic.

Custombucker pickups deliver vintage PAF tone

Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to the Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul's electronics as they did to its aesthetics. Beginning with vintage CTS potentiometers and bumble bee capacitors, every part of its internal signal path is designed to give you absolutely dead-on '57 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, the Custom Shop Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul sports a pair of Gibson's Custombucker humbuckers. The Custombucker is the most historically accurate PAF copy ever. You'll love how close this comes to the look, sound, and feel of a '57 Les Paul!

Mahogany neck with early 1950s profile and rosewood fingerboard

When early Les Pauls are discussed (and they are at great length), a big issue is always the neck profile. The earliest Les Pauls had big, fat necks made of mahogany. The neck was slimmed down a bit in 1959, and it finally evolved into what's known today as the SlimTaper neck in 1960. Some players love those huge old necks, while others prefer the SlimTaper design. This Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul has a bound mahogany neck with long neck tenon and the original chunky '50s rounded neck profile for vintage feel.

Gibson Custom Shop Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • The most historically accurate reissue of the iconic 1957 Les Paul Goldtop VOS to date
  • Solid mahogany body with carved maple top provides sought-after Les Paul tonality
  • Goldtop VOS finish has been reformulated for deeper colors, gold is now "greener"
  • Period-correct rounded neck profile
  • Hide-glued mahogany neck, with extended neck tenon for exceptional sustain and response
  • Neck and fingerboard attached with hide glue
  • Custom Shop hardshell case included
The Gibson Custom Standard Historic 1957 Goldtop Les Paul delivers vintage looks and feel!

Custom 57'

This Gibson Custom 57' Goldtop is a GREAT guitar. Gibson is last few years have really done a fantastic job in replicating the original guitars from the 50s era. I bought my 2002 57' Reissue in 2005 brand new. It is one of 20 produced with the etched ghost flames on the pickguard, truss rod cover, pickup covers, and the tail piece. This guitar continues to amaze me after all these years. This is one of my guitars that I will never sell, God willing. This is one of two Custom Shop Gibson Les Pauls that I own and they are both fantastic guitars. Gibson guitars are such a GREAT investment.
