    Les Paul R-6 Goldtop

I purchased this 2012 R-6, just this past week in March 2013. I am fortunate to own and have owned many great guitars and currently a Gibson 60 Reissue 335, Es 165, Martins and Fender and a Rick Kelly Tele. This Goldtop is all it should be and is quickly a favorite. The feel of the neck is perfect. It is a fat neck. The fret wire is the flatter fret wire of the 50's and actually a joy to have for a change. The sound is all it should be with the P-90 and the look-well matched with a gold top...wow! Weight is 9 lbs and this is comfortable for a Les Paul. The specs are spot on and although the 2013 have some more upgrades, this is more than excellent. I like the lighter back as in this year , as the 2013 are darker and a little greener in the gold. I dealt with Marcos Sanchez who was very professional and service orientated. This is one reason I purchased from Sweetwater. All in all, this has to be a favorite of any guitar and a total blues rock or jazz monster.

    MUST HAVE AS COLLECTION ITEM!!

Guitarist will always debate what is the best Gibson Les Paul model. But for me this is not just the best, but the MASTERPIECE and comes with personal collection sentiment reason.

    1. This is the last version of Gibson Les Paul guitar with P-90 single coil pick-up, before PAFs version began use in 1957 till to the current latest version. While most players today favor the slightly darker sound of PAF humbuckers, others have found that P-90s is better - it offering a distinctive sound, particularly when used on a maple and mahogany guitar.

    2. With Tune-O-Matic bridge technology by Ted McCarty, can't argue that this is the perfect combination Gibson ever made!

    3. With all those quality and personal sentiment, no wonder Stevie Wonder also going crazy with this, till give him an inspiration to coming out with legendary song - Superstition, as early 22 years old his age that time. We also can see he play this guitar in Superstition video.

And YES, I have one!! Lucky Me!! Thanks Allah!!

    An Amazing Guitar...

This is an absolutely amazing guitar. I have been using it for studio, radio, and live applications. It has served me well going through any system. The tonal control that you have right from the tone nobs alone is amazing - you can dial in any flavor right from the guitar itself. I had a chance to play the '58 which I loved also - but I found this one to be the winner based on overall utility. In my opinion, there is nothing quite like a '56.
