A Les Paul That's Far More Than Standard!

You can't beat the Gibson Les Paul Standard solidbody electric guitar for iconic vintage tone with uncompromising playability. You'll love the Les Paul Standard's premium features, like the Modern weight-relieved body that's lighter in weight but still packs ample sustain. The mahogany neck sports a '60s profile for fast and fluid fretwork, and the compound-radius rosewood fretboard makes the Les Paul Standard perfect for both rhythm and lead roles. And with dual Burstbucker Pro pickups, with coil tapping to switch between humbucking and single-coil operation, you'll have all the classic guitar tone you can handle with the Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Gibson Les Paul Standard Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • '60s neck profile with compound-radius fingerboard
  • Burstbucker Pro pickups with coil taps
  • Plek'd for precision playability
Mahogany body with AAA flamed maple top

Gibson's Les Paul Standard gives you the robust sustain you need for hot liquid solos and massive power chords. What's Gibson's secret? A major part of the Les Paul's tonewood recipe is the fusion of a maple top on a mahogany body. This combination is largely responsible for the legendary Les Paul sound, as well as the LP's reputation for being rather heavy. But fear not! Modern weight relief has been scientifically applied to the Les Paul Standard, giving you all the sustain, without the pain.

'60s neck profile with compound-radius fingerboard

Many guitarists consider Gibson's SlimTaper neck the most playable Les Paul neck ever made. Being huge fans of the benefits of a compound-radius fretboard, Sweetwater guitarists are excited that Gibson is joining their SlimTaper neck with a compound-radius fretboard, making the playability even better. The fingerboard is rounder near the nut for easy chord grabbing and rhythm playing. As your playing heats up and moves up the fretboard, the radius flattens out for easier runs and big, big string bends.

Burstbucker Pro pickups with coil taps

The Les Paul Standard features Burstbucker Pro pickups that give you everything you need for a classic humbucking sound. But there's more! The volume and tone knobs feature a push-pull configuration that allows you to choose between classic humbuckers and single coils. You can run both pickups alongside each other in or out of phase, and you can even send the bridge pickup directly to the jack output for added volume and brightness.

Plek'd for precision playability

This Gibson Les Paul Standard 2016 T feels fast and precise, thanks in large part to Plek processing. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own. Each note rings loud and clear, and the fret edges feel smooth as silk.

Gibson Les Paul Standard Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Genuine LP sound and looks with modern features
  • Classic mahogany body and AAA flamed maple top deliver singing sustain
  • Modern weight relief lightens the load without sacrificing tone
  • '60s neck and compound-radius fretboard for playing without fatigue

You get classic plus modern with the Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar!

Awesome Guitar Surpassed Only By Legendary Sweetwater Customer Service

Despite returning three guitars, and being nothing less than a huge PITA, my customer service agent Will never ever lost his patience with me, and time and again went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. His persistence finally paid off, and I am now the proud owner of a beautiful Gibson Trans Amber Les Paul Standard T, and the instrument is nothing less than perfection! Played through my Marshall DSL15c, I'm getting brilliantly articulate cleans, and the type of growling throaty dirt, that just makes me smile. I am beyond happy. Thank you Will, you've earned Sweetwater a customer for life!

Everything came correct. The setup, the sound, the quality. Just simply wow.

They're Back!!!

I received my 2016 Les Paul Standard yesterday (3/12/2016) and it's fantastic! The Translucent Amber top looks amazing. Out of the box, it came ready to play - I prefer the action to be a touch lower but since it comes stock with 9s I have no problem playing at the moment. I will wait a bit to do a custom setup (which you should do for all your guitars..). I really like the coil tap options, especially for blues. I'm not the biggest fan of the phase invert toggle but don't mind having the option. I have a 2003 Les Paul Standard Premium Plus in Tobacco Burst, which has that x factor effect. Gibson guitars tend to be inconsistent from the shop, so often times I go to local dealers and play 10+ Gibson guitars off the shelf and they don't compare to my 2003. This 2016 LP Standard however is absolutely amazing, especially considering I took a leap of faith and ordered a guitar I have never played. It was my first guitar ordered from Sweetwater and I couldn't be happier. I've played it through an EVH III 50w, ENGL Powerball, Vox, Marshall JVM, Fryette, and a number of other amps I have at my studio and this thing sounds killer! It has a a slightly cleaner, warmer sound than my 2003 LP, which I am fine with. Highly recommended! If you're deciding what to do, I'd say go for it. I made my decision based on the amount of positive feedback I had encountered from reviews on Sweetwater, Gearslutz, and other sites all praising the 2016 line of Gibson guitars.

This Les Paul rocks

Well folks, we have our Les Pauls back. If you're familiar with the 2015 model you will know exactly what I'm talking about. I own many high-end guitars and this might be the best playing guitar I have ever owned. From the locking Grover tuners all the way down to the tone pros bridge. this thing is incredible. They brought back the old school Brown case with pink liner. And let me clear up any confusion with the modern wait relief body, it does not affect sustain if anything it gives it better resonance thus more sustain. To top it off Philip Courtney and the rest of the team have the best, unsurpassed quality of customer service you could ever ask for in the musical instrument buying industry.
