2013 LP Plus Great Guitar!
After many years of wanting a real-deal Les Paul Standard I finally decided to take the plunge with this model. I looked hard at the 2014 models, but Im not a "Mini-Tune" kind of guy and I also couldnt resist getting a "AAA plus top" for quite a bit cheaper than what the AA standards were selling for in 2013. The guitar arrived in good shape but to be honest the setup was far from perfect. I brought the guitar to my tech for a string change and full setup. That did the trick and really brought out the guitar's "wow" factor. The guitar is amazingly smooth and comfortable to play. The intonation and definition of the strings is really what sets this axe apart - not to mention some of the best electronics Ive ever heard on any guitar. Plenty of QUALITY tones, humbuckers, out of phase switch, single-coil operation, etc - perfect for the studio and anything else for that matter. Theres something very "alive" about the tone that really makes my amp shine. Body, finish, frets, etc all top notch no flaws. Gripes? Even with the weight relief body this is still a relatively heavy guitar - mine is 8.8.lbs which is certainly reasonable but dont expect to fling it around like a Tele thinline or SG. The strap buttons are functional but a little on the small size - no biggie. As mentioned before, the setup from the factory wasnt very good - plan to get it professionally setup, its well worth the additional cost. Thats it, I cant think of any other concerns. Its truly a fine guitar - you get what you pay for - grab one of these deals while they last! Thanks for the great service from Mark Magdich!
