I have to start by giving props to Drew Foster. It's was my first order from Sweetwater so he gave me a call to get to know me and see what I was into, music-wise. He was beyond cool, and very helpful. He is a guitarist that now does a lot of work in the studio. I love playing guitar, but I'd really like to get into recording next.
I ordered this guitar and a Marshall DSL-40C, I'll review it over there. This guitar it amazing. I have an old patent pending Peavey Wolfgang, beautiful guitar and sounds great, but the oil finish neck is high maintenance. I bought it the same day I saw Van Halen in Dallas it is a guitar that sits in a hard case and has sentimental value more than anything. I also have a Fender Stratocaster Eric Clapton "Blackie" that I bought from from "that other big box store." Amazing guitar, but had some problems with the pick guard being warped, not their fault but it took some doing to find another. That is when I decided to try Sweetwater.
As amazing as Sweetwater was, this guitar is above what I thought it would be. The P-90 pickups are as punchy as anything I've ever heard. I'm no expert, but these are crazy awesome. The finish is beautiful, the vanilla smell is a bonus, lol. This is my first Gibson, I have 3 Epiphones and this is not only light years better than those, but, way better than my Peavey and Fender or any other guitar I've owned. I'm totally blown away. I changed the strings to Ernie Ball 10's, but I may switch back to the Cleartones in 10's, really liked them. This is my new #1, it's beautiful, but not so much so that I'm afraid to play it or put pick scratches on it
As a matter of fact, I'm not the only one that loves it, the guys I play guitar with can't put it down either. Even the drummer loves it Everyone who has played it, absolutely loves it. Gibson, accept no substitute.
