    A True Masterpiece

Well ladies and gents, I got the VERY last one. And where can I start?

The wrap around tail bridge lives up to its name, the sustain on that thing is amazing! The finish is very smooth, I do love the color. And you can't go wrong with that rosewood fingerboard.

The one thing that impressed me the most was Sweetwater's customer service. I got Roq to help me out, and what a helpful guy! He responded to all my questions right away, and always helped me out.

Nice job with this one Sweetwater.

One of the nicest guitars I've played

So I've been looking for a Gibson Les Paul Special for a while now and its unfortunate to see there aren't many in current production. I order a pre-owned LP Special from one of the big name guitar stores and to my dismay it came in trashed compared to the description and pictures AND took 8 days to get to me. Despite that, it played pretty well so I decided to return it and begin my search for another.

Enter Sweetwater. I ordered my LP Special on a Monday and it was on my doorstep Friday morning! I am a huge Carlton fan and the TV yellow nails it. This LP blew my previous special out of the water. Everything about it is wonderful and the quality is awesome. The p90's are so creamy/punchy and raw, its a perfect addition to the collection.

I received a phone call the day after my order and was emailed once my guitar was delivered. This is the best customer service I've pretty much ever experienced and one of the nicest playing instruments I've held in my hands. Thank you for making a poor experience elsewhere turn into one of the best things to happen to my guitar collection.

    Mind officially Blown!

This is by and large the sweetest sounding electric that I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It does whatever you want it to do...Country, Classic Rock, Jazz, Hard rock...whatever your twisted mind can come up with. Mine came perfectly set up, which is a first for me. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

    Punchy

I have to start by giving props to Drew Foster. It's was my first order from Sweetwater so he gave me a call to get to know me and see what I was into, music-wise. He was beyond cool, and very helpful. He is a guitarist that now does a lot of work in the studio. I love playing guitar, but I'd really like to get into recording next.

I ordered this guitar and a Marshall DSL-40C, I'll review it over there. This guitar it amazing. I have an old patent pending Peavey Wolfgang, beautiful guitar and sounds great, but the oil finish neck is high maintenance. I bought it the same day I saw Van Halen in Dallas it is a guitar that sits in a hard case and has sentimental value more than anything. I also have a Fender Stratocaster Eric Clapton "Blackie" that I bought from from "that other big box store." Amazing guitar, but had some problems with the pick guard being warped, not their fault but it took some doing to find another. That is when I decided to try Sweetwater.

As amazing as Sweetwater was, this guitar is above what I thought it would be. The P-90 pickups are as punchy as anything I've ever heard. I'm no expert, but these are crazy awesome. The finish is beautiful, the vanilla smell is a bonus, lol. This is my first Gibson, I have 3 Epiphones and this is not only light years better than those, but, way better than my Peavey and Fender or any other guitar I've owned. I'm totally blown away. I changed the strings to Ernie Ball 10's, but I may switch back to the Cleartones in 10's, really liked them. This is my new #1, it's beautiful, but not so much so that I'm afraid to play it or put pick scratches on it

As a matter of fact, I'm not the only one that loves it, the guys I play guitar with can't put it down either. Even the drummer loves it Everyone who has played it, absolutely loves it. Gibson, accept no substitute.

    Great Vintage RnR Mojo!

First of all, I was most impressed with Sweetwater's speedy service and their 55-point inspection. This is the first time I've ever ordered a guitar online and was able to take it out of the box, give it a quick tuning and it play perfect without a complete setup. YMMV. For this reason, I will definitely be buying more guitars in the future from Sweetwater!

I did knock off a half star however, because when tuning the G-B-E strings, there's a "ping" and the note jumps which indicates to me either the string is binding in the nut or it's the tuners. A minor problem that hopefully will be resolved by a little graphite lube in the nut.

The finish is top notch, especially for a guitar in this price range! The tone is even better! This thing sounds mean and fat going all out through my Marshall, but roll the volume back just a bit and it cleans up nicely while still retaining all its warmth.

I've seen other versions of this guitar that have been previously offered by other merchants, however I believe this one is more true to the spirit of the original 1955 issue. These guitars should not have modern humbuckers or stacked pickups, nor should they have the same tune-o-matic bridge/stop-bar tailpiece, pearloid bell-shaped tuners, & speed knobs as all the other current Gibson models. For those reasons, I'd choose Sweetwater's version over the others any day, because it truly maintains all the vintage 1955 mojo, yet can still rock with anything else currently in production.

Let's not forget about the price as well...you can't beat a value like this for the price.

    Great Guitar

Had one of these a few years back and sold it, and regretted it immediately!! The neck size, (not too fat) the action,(Perfect) and the pickups (Warm and Punchy) all combine to make a great guitar!! Regardless of whether I run it through my Vox or my Mesa, the damn thing sounds great, and it cost about a third of the LP Standard I was looking at!! Thanks Sweetwater you did it again!!
