A Genuine Gibson at Epiphone prices

By Nick H from Des Moines, IA on July 17, 2014 Music Background: Gigging musician

This is the first Gibson that I have own and I have to say that it truly is a great guitar. Much better than my Epiphone I have had new pickups put into and upgraded parts wise. My only complaints were the uncovered pickups and the volume and tone knobs. I bought Gibson neck pickup covers and Gibson black speed knobs. So that solved all my problems. My other guitar player in my band owns and gigs with a Les Paul studio and I honestly prefer my LPJ over his Studio. Now it doesn't come close to my uncles 72 Les Paul custom but it is a start. I would even say this would make a great back up guitar for any professional. I think it is the right step for the intermediate player looking for something better than a epiphone or LTD or Schecter. I have one of each of those and my Gibson is now my go to guitar. If your even thinking about buying one I would say pull the trigger and do it.

I love this guitar, having trouble keeping it in tune. It's don't get out to bad but catching myself tweaking the tuning a lot.

Gibson's new sleeper!

By Patrick from Traverse City, MI on January 21, 2014 Music Background: hobbyist, collector

Gibson really has stepped up their game. I have owned about 10 Gibson's, most Les Pauls and I have to say that this is a DEAL! After playing for just a short period of time you can tell that this guitar is different than what you are used to at this price point. First of all this Les Paul does something that most all don't do-STAY IN TUNE! I love the fact that my time is spent playing not tuning. I think that the Graph-tech nut is a big factor. Also the maple neck bring a really nice snap to this Paul. It's brighter yet still very Gibson. The 61 pickups are new to their line and sound awesome! Nice clear shimmer and chime on the clean channel and wonderful sustain iand bite n the distortion department. The neck says 50's but isn't the super chunky profile you would expect with that designation. Also it's unfinished back makes it fast and super smooth for the rhythm player or the lead player who need to be able to do fast runs up and down the fretboard. Overall I have to say that this guitar doesn't have the flash but what it does have is the playability. I love the satin finish but I know that isn't for everybody. Definety check one of these out if you get the chance, you will be very impressed! Good job Gibson- You are back!

Incredible Service

By Brian from Vinton, IA on January 18, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist Musician

I purchased this guitar approx a month ago, I love it. It is a Gibson!!
I more so want to review the service and hands on approach that Sweetwater provided. I had been looking at the 2014 Gibson's and had previously dealt with the big box GC or MF, same thing. I was attempting to see better pictures of this guitar as they both provide only stock photos, that is how I arrived at Sweetwater. There were, at the time 2 different guitars in stcok and both had thier own photos, which allowed me to determine which grain appealed to me as well as the fretboard, something I consider when purchasing. I couldn't place the order online that evening because I needed to deposit some cash from selling off other gear in my account the next day. So I called the 1800 number and spoke with a sales rep named Kenny. Kenny was more than happy to place that specific guitar on hold for me until the next day when I could deposit funds. A couple days later I recieved my new LPJ and it was THE EXACT guitar I wanted.
Thank you Sweetwater and Kenny for aquiring a loyal customer.

The Gibson LPJ-2014 Vintage Sunburst Perimeter is a true players guitar. Satin rubbed finish looks better than the picture shows. The zebra pickups are outstanding clean to dirty.
