I'll start out by confessing that I have a real love of cajons. Slapping on wood is somehow more satisfying to my than any skin or synthetic drum head. Maybe it's because I can really beat the tar out of wooden instruments. Anyway, having said that, this LP bongo cajon is wonderful. Does it sound exactly like bongo drums? Well, no, not exactly, but it's very close. Slap tones crack, the center tones are round and full, and you can do all kinds of modifications of the tones on either side by parially muting the top with the non-striking hand. It's certainly as expressive as a conventional pair of bongos. The tone is just more... well, WOODY, I guess. Craftsmanship is superb, as you would expect from LP, and it comes with a canvas drawsting bag (not super protective, but better than nothing, which is what you usually get). Plus, you never have to tune it! Just pull it outta the bag and flail away! This is a ton of fun for the money. Highly recommended.
