closest to the perfect snare as i've found

I'm a 40 something year veteran drummer and have many snares..a few were made for me (and rarely use them). In sessions lately I've used this power maple every time over the last 4 and half months. And over the past year I've out of all the sessions I've pulled out 3 snares, two of them SLPs - this power maple and the slimmer full maple. I've become a believer in this product. Snares are weird drums and have always been all over the board in consistency. But these are all consistent so much so that I fell ok about just ordering one and knowing it will respond exactly how I expect it to. Of the SLPs I have, Ive done nothing to them, I can play them "off the rack" and they cut, give that tight maple pop. This one, Power Maple, I can loosen up and tune in that round, deep "boosch!" that I use a lot. Not all snares can give that correctly. Out of 30 something snares, only 2 give that to me correctly. This Tama and a very old chrome on wood Ludwig. I think Tama has cornered the market on snares. They are the best new snares and they have a low price point. Its one of those weird things you see in music gear today - I guess because of the economy - but this is a high end product at an accessible price. If I had to only have one snare, this would be it.

    Great sound, but snare wires...?

I purchased this drum and really dig the sound!
However, the snare beds are super shallow. This drum comes standard with 42 strand TAMA Snappy wires, which with a shallow snare bed it seems to take forever grappling with trying to eliminate overly sensitive incidental snare buzz! If you have 4 toms or more, then you might want to take a sedative before, during, and after you tuning because you are not going to rid the snare buzz to the point of tolerating it unless you mic the drum. I am going to try 24 strand snares (Puresound or TAMA Snappies) next to listen if I can even tune and tolerate it.
Other than my gripe, as close as I can get to dialing in the sweet spot, it is very clear to me tha this is a sweet, loud, and authoritative sounding snare drum!
