A time-proven design now with XLR I/O!

In today's pro audio world, we often find ourselves in the situation of connecting a low volume -10dBV output - a cassette deck, a CD player, or a synthesizer - to a +4dBu input, such as a mixer or an audio interface. Incorrectly matching levels between gear can result in volumes that are too low, as well as an increased noise floor. The 2-channel Line Level Shifter converts between unbalanced and balanced lines as needed, converting between -10dBV and +4dBu to facilitate the connection to virtually any type of gear you'll encounter.

Ebtech Line Level Shifter XLR Features:
  • Completely passive design (requires no power)
  • Converts back and forth between -10dBV and +4dBu
  • Converts automatically between balanced and unbalanced lines
  • 1/4" TRS and XLR "smart" jacks inputs and outputs
  • Built in Hum Eliminator technology eliminates 50/60Hz ground loop hum, buzz and noise
  • Automatically translates signal voltages to match difference in ground potential
  • Frequency response 10Hz to 40kHz +/- 1dB into 10kOhm load
  • Distortion less than 0.002% THD @ 1kHz
  • Crosstalk better than -97dB
  • Maximum source impedance 1kOhm. Minimum load impedance 10kOhm
  • Two-Year Warranty
  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • Dimensions 3.5"L x 4.75"W x 1.5"H

Must have in tool bag

I wanted this unit because of both sexes of XLR inputs or outputs. I have used it as a step down from board monitor outputs to personnel in-ear monitor mixer and a step up from computer headphone out to mic level board inputs . It's like direct boxes with more options. Excellent product

Great Product

Great product. Period. Transparent. Open sounding. And once the impedence mis-matched has been fixed...even better sounding.

Not very sexy, but necessary

With a rating of 4.5 (since it's kind of hard for me to get overly excited about under-the-hood gear) I'm not "blown away," but I'm extremely grateful to add the Ebtech LLS to my suitcase of go-to cables & power solutions. In the studio, it serves as a great vehicle - bridging various pieces of music gear in a seamless, ultra-clean fashion. Initially I thought, wow, this seems like a lot of money to spend on a rather non-sexy piece of equipment; but, I'm happy I picked it up. It's well built and is designed to withstand punishment associated with those gigs from hell. There's no degradation to sound that I can perceive (when implemented into recording sessions - where any problems are easily spotted). With that said, no problems with the Ebtech LLS. So...don't compromise with weird, unproven cables and connectors. Trust me, one bad apple (uh, cable or connector) can jack up your recording space or live setup - and you'll apt to spend many hours tracking down the problem. The Ebtech LLS should provide you hours of decent sleep knowing you used the right equipment to help ensure pristine & clean audio. Great job, Ebtech! Oh...and great job, Mike Arrango. It always helps to have access to Sweetwater! Knowledge is power.

Exactly what it says on the tin

For anyone who's ever struggled with -10 consumer gear and +4 pro audio outputs, this box is the fix. Rather than the cheaper resistor network approach, this actually has a transformer with less windings on the -10 side. A efficient and solid fix to the problem. The only thing more I could ask for is RCA jacks.

Ebtech LLS-2-XLR Line Shifter

I was working in a school hall with terrible hum, which I reckon was a ground loop. The analog mixer was some 40m away. I didn't install the system and had no idea of the power distribution in the hall. The Ebtech fixed the problem immediately. I placed it where the mixer returns are on the stage box, (before a graphic that was across FOH) at the stage end, isolating the earths from the stage and the mixer. Brilliant!
