A highly recommended instrument!

I have been a fan of walnut since the tama star walnut drumset with matching walnut snare, and I really want to have that sound and that snare but its to pricey for me. Tama made it possible for me to gain a snare close to the star which is the slp g walnut. I love the rich dark warm tone of this snare, using it from different kinds of music from aggressive to light music and it never fail me. for me the low to med tone sound at its best! the tone of this is in the middle of maple and bubinga. Looking of a snare with dark rich warm tone the will suite any musical situation. Buy this, worth every penny!

Just Buy It!

I own almost every one of the tama SLP snares. I actually sold 2 brady and another high end snare and bought all but 2 of the sip snares. thats how much I love them. As soon as the G Walnut came out I was super eager to play it. The online demos I heard were decent but I wanted a walnut snare for some time so I didn't waste anytime buying this. Thank you Mark Bruhn! With the stock heads on the drum, it was way too bright and ringy and the stock Evans G1 didn't allow the beautiful low tones of the walnut to project. I got mostly high end crack. This is also a 30 strand set of wires so its a bit wet sounding. I immediately went to my staple head setup which is the Evans HD dry batter and BAM! There it was! That gorgeous deep rock tone that I was hoping for. You might find this hard to believe but this is the single best rock snare drum I have ever played. I only use my drums for recording and with a standard sm57 and a touch of room reverb, this thing kills! The best recorded snare drum tone I have ever had. I wouldn't think twice about buying this. Click on the notify me when its in stock button and grab this one. For this price, you'd be foolish to not own it.

I recently purchased a few snare drums to try out with my drum kit, and I keep coming back to the Tama S.L.P. G-Walnut snare. It has a wide tuning range and a nice body to it. When I crank it up, it cuts through my kit without overpowering it, but it also delivers in a meaty, fat-back role as well. I like the crispness of the 30 strand snares, and I really like that the Sound Arc hoops gave my rimshots the power of die cast hoops, while being much more forgiving on my hands and my sticks. In all, this drum is a joy to play, and I would have no problem using it in all sorts of situations.
