Active EMG pickups deliver impressive versatility

The ESP LTD FRX-401 is fitted with a pair of hot active humbuckers - an EMG 60 in the neck position and an EMG 81 at the bridge. A classic combo. There's a reason top metal guitarists use active pickups: they rock hard. The EMG 81 has become a first-call lead pickup choice for some of the most respected metal guitarists of all time, while the EMG 60 provides the perfect tonal complement. Stirred with a 3-way toggle and poured through volume and tone pots, this heady brew is a veritable tonefest that gives you everything from chimey cleans to searing hot shred - and all points in between.

This guitar looks amazing under stage lights

No doubt about it - with its menacing FRX body shape, no-nonsense black hardware, and offset dot fingerboard inlays, the ESP LTD FRX-401 looks killer. A class act all the way. If you're into heavier rock and metal, then this guitar is designed for you. Onstage, the ESP LTD FRX-401 projects pure attitude. At Sweetwater, we're stone serious about sound... but we're not immune to a little stage vanity. Look at it this way: as you're bludgeoning your audience with monstrous power chords, you might as well look good doing it. And with the ESP LTD FRX-401, you will!

ESP guitars are built to rock hard

ESP started as a manufacturer of after-market guitar parts in Japan in the late 1970s. By the mid-'80s ESP was making custom guitars for some of the biggest names in rock. Superior playability and craftsmanship has made ESP Guitars one of the most visible and prevalent guitar brands in rock and metal. Their commitment to quality is second to none, and their impressive roster of endorsers proves it. Between George Lynch, Ron Wood, Javier Reyes, Kirk Hammett, and Alexi Laiho, ESP makes the guitars that today's guitar heroes use.

Favorite LTD so dar

The LTD series has always been a go to for me, and this latest addition to the line does not disappoint. I was very interested in the EII version of this body, but I don't really like Floyd Rose and prefer stop tail bridges. One thing to note: the string spacing on this guitar is quite a bit wider than the other LTDs I have, something to be mindful of when purchasing.
