It's Staying in the Closet

By Heather H. on April 25, 2014 Music Background: Recording Engineer

After a few weeks of trying this monitor, I put it back in its box and have relegated it to use only as a back-up. It is really low-end and problematic. I got it because it has a VESA plate so that I could mount it on an arm on my engineer's desk, but it is so inferior to my 6-year-old Samsung Syncmaster that it's not worth it. The display on the V7 isn't very crisp or bright, and it's too small and not as wide as monitors with similar measurement specs. If I turn off the V7 between sessions, when I turn it back on I have to go into my main studio computer and re-link it every time (the Samsung stays linked to my main computer). Worst of all, the V7 seems to mess with my studio iMac's graphics card: if it is linked to mirror displays with my iMac, every time I shut down the iMac I get this weird pattern of horizontal bars all over the iMac screen and it takes longer to shut down. If I disconnect te V7 (and when I use other monitors), this doesn't happen.

Better than your old 4 x 3!

By Ed from Culver City, CA on February 15, 2013 Music Background: Composer, Arranger, Engineer, Pro Sax, Guitar & Keyboard player

I was quite impressed with the V7 Monitors. I bought a pair of them for my studio when one of my old pair of 4 x 3 monitors finally died. As difficult as it is to make money in the music business these days, you try not to spend money when you have stuff that works. But suddenly one monitors died - and it was the one my virtual mixer was on! So I replaced them both with a matching pair of the V7's, and couldn't be happier with how much screen "real estate" I now have, how crisp the image is and was very happy with the Sweetwater price and service. My Sales Engineer, AJ Becerra, took care of everything. The monitors arrived very quickly, connected easily and fired up looking GREAT!
