Designed to Alex Skolnick's Precise Specifications

The ESP LTD Alex Skolnick AS-1FM solidbody electric guitar covers the wide range of styles that Mr. Skolnick is known for. The familiar single-cutaway design boasts the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body and a carved figured maple top for the classic tone that's great for any genre. The 24.75" mahogany neck's slightly smaller carve makes for comfortable playing. The ESP LTD Alex Skolnick AS-1FM uses a pair of hard-driving Seymour Duncan humbuckers to conjure anything from aggressive metal to warm jazz tones. Or you can coil split the neck pickup for even more options. The ESP LTD Alex Skolnick AS-1FM covers any style you'd ever need.

ESP LTD AS-1FM Alex Skolnick Signature Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Designed with Alex, not just for him
  • Classic appointments, with a mean streak
  • As versatile as the man himself
Designed with Alex, not just for him

From jazz to Testament's over-the-top metal, Alex needs one guitar that can cover both extremes with ease. That's why he worked so closely with ESP in designing his signature guitars and incorporating some of his favorite features into the Alex Skolnick AS-1FM solidbody electric guitar. You'll get great control over string bends with the extra jumbo frets, and the neck contour is both substantial for chording and thin enough for speedy runs. And a real bone nut gives you optimum string-energy transfer.

Classic appointments, with a mean streak

The look of this instrument says it all. It exudes elegance and class, but the sharper cutaway and more aggressive headstock design let you know that there's a searing heavy metal machine lurking beneath the figured maple top. The Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB humbucker in the bridge is famous for the way it can punch the front end of a high-gain amplifier while maintaining clear pick attack. It's paired perfectly with the moderate output of a '59 humbucker, a pickup renowned for vintage tones. The custom U neck profile excels at comfortable, fleet-fingered fretboard work.

As versatile as the man himself

The Alex Skolnick AS-1FM's versatility enables you to take it to the gig and cover a huge range of sonic territory. The classic mahogany and maple construction offers a strong midrange with the right amount of snap, and the dual humbuckers offer tones from high-gain madness to warm, vintage tones. Or engage the coil split and tap into clear, bell-like single-coil tones. You'll find the AS-1FM is supremely comfortable and sounds great, whether holding down the rhythm or doing highly technical heavy metal lead work.

ESP LTD AS-1FM Alex Skolnick Signature Electric Guitar Features:
  • Electric guitar designed by Jazz and Metal giant Alex Skolnick
  • Flamed maple top and thick mahogany body for a classic single-cut vibe
  • U profile neck invites comfortable chord work and fast lead playing
  • Variety of tones via dual Seymour Duncan pickups with coil-split
  • Easy bending thanks to 22 extra-jumbo frets
  • Tonepros bridge offers sustain and stringing stability
From Metal to Jazz, the AS-1FM Alex Skolnick signature can do it all.

The Real Deal

One of the best bang for the buck instruments I have ever played. After being a hard-core Gibson Les Paul player for most of the last 2 1/2 decades, I played one of these a couple of years ago and was very impressed, kept coming back and playing them time and again, and decided I had to have one. They are a Les Paul killer. This outplayed all six of the higher end Gibsons that I played while I was at the Sweetwater show room, it wasn't even close. Awesome set up right out of the box, fat tones, a full thickness body, excellent hardware and pickups. The fit and finish our wonderful, as is the fretwork, no sharp ends. You just cannot go wrong with this instrument if you like the SingleCut body styles and fat, meaty tones...

Sounds As Good As It Looks

Bought this guitar without every having seen or tried one in person. Based my purchase off of video demos, the spec sheet, and a few reviews I'd seen. I'd owned the ESP LTD EC1000T previously, but was never satisfied with the sounds I got from it - too mushy, no bite. This one promised improved pickups, push/pull coil tapping, and it just looks amazing, so I took the gamble. I've owned Epiphone standard LPs, Standard Telecasters, custom telecasters, signature Epiphones, and a few others, but I must say this is the best guitar I've ever owned. Love it. The only upgrade I'd consider at this point would be some locking tuners, but it wouldn't be necessary even. Sonically, visually, tangibly it's fantastic. Highly recommended.

Sweetwater Advice

Zach Neels

One of my favorite Artist Signiture models on the planet. Great classic looks, great playability, and can easily do everything from Jazz chords to heavy metal lead lines. Plus, it's amazing to look at! The JB/'59 set is also has coil tapping to allow for a HUGE amount of usable tones.
