    Simply the best!

Throughout my adult live, Bose has been my choice of sound engines. It started in the early 70's, when my band was the second only band in Europe to have Bose speakers on stage. Since then, I have had just about every Bose unit that came on the market, including my PC speakers, Surround sound Systems, TV Sound Bars, Wave Radio, etc. When the L1 came out (with the round base) I used it for several years as my PA system. Then I scaled down and got the L1 Compact, good enough for my Lounge gigs and much lighter to carry around. Two years ago I formed a duo and we're using the L1 1S with the T1 ToneMatch unit and we couldn't be happier! 180 degree sound covering, excellent clear sound, easy setup, happy audience...what more could you ask for?

The Bose customer service is just as superb. My T1 ToneMatch developed a problem and they exchanged it for a new one, not costing me a penny. They paid for the shipping and also the return shipping of the old T1.

Sure I was skeptical because I love my Meyers speakers but for the corporate events I produce the L1 is a great product. I hit the L1 (mono) out of a Yamaha MGP24X which has a Shure ULXD Quad wireless mic set plus a couple of inputs for laptop sound, ipods sound and sometimes a podium mic. My venues are generally 50' wide and 70" deep +/- and using 2 L1's I have been very happy with the coverage. I was concerned about feedback due speaker placement and presenters moving around but I have not had ANY issues. Of course it is still critical to balance your console gain and mic output gain but that is common with all speaker systems. Get the bass unit even if your only doing talking head gigs. My only EQ adjustment was to bring out the mids for a little warmer sound. I have not used them for large events with venues up to 100'x300'. But I believe that 4 of the L1's would cover it. I still recommend Meyers for the Third Day / Rolling Stones concerts but for corporate gigs, small/medium churches and trade shows the L1 is now my product of choice.

    Bose L1S & Tone Match

I tried a Bose systems years ago and had problems but I have learned a lot about my sound and how to eq, mix and fix my sound. I play about 100 gigs a year. I was tired of carrying a PA mixer etc and then having volume issues at venues and all the time it takes to set up. This Bose L1S and Tone match make my life easy. When I play solo I use all 4 inputs on tone match 1 Guitar (DeVoe w RMC Pickups) into Fishman Aura, 2 Buruce Bartlett Guitar Mic, 3 Roland GI 20 & XV 2020 Synth, 4 iPod Backing Tracks and mp3 . I've payed with others that sit in and they were blown away with the sound. I can set up in 5 min. Performance area looks clean. I purchased a bracket that mounts on Speakers and hold my guitar. I can easily play for 300 with no problem. I've not had mine on past 12 o'clock 50% with a little work learning your gear! the Tone Match mixer is fantastic to dial in your sound, 3 band eq and one band parametric notch EQ with adjustable bandwidth. People love the sound, look and so do I. Sweetwater made it possible foe me with the EZ pay. Thanks

the Bose L1S sounds amazing from anywhere in the listening area

I did comparison testing and found nothing (including the Fishstick) that was close to even the compact. I went with the L1s with the B1 bass unit instead of the L1 compact as the L1S can handle venues up to 300 people and it sounded better. I also highly recommend the T1 Tonematch mixer (see review under Tonematch)

The L1S is easily transported and set up by one person without having to lift heavy speakers on to poles. The L1s in SKB hard cases (recommended additional insurance), B1 Bass unit and other gear (guitars, mike stands, etc) along with another person fits into my Honda FIT. I also like the fact the Bose L1S is very easy to set up or tear down and I donít have to lift heavy speakers on to poles.
