Exactly What I Needed

This keyboard was recommended to my by my sales contact at Sweetwater. I wanted a basic MIDI controller to replace an old keyboard that had broken and wasn't worth fixing. This certainly does the job. I had been interfacing with my DAW for many years using a MIDI cable , but this one, I hooked up via USB, my computer recognized it, and I was recording with it in no time. Doesn't even need a power cable, USB supplies the power.. The keyboard action is perfect for me as a non pianist... It has a lot of features I'll never use, but so what? Perfect!

Good Controller

I bought this little controller as an upgrade to my 25 key controller; to active just wasn't cutting it for me. Maybe it's because I came from an 88 key digital piano which I had to sell to make payments on another studio purchase. I like the fact that it has full piano keys and not the "synth keys, "or as I like to call them "organ keys." The build quality is fairly solid in spite of the fact that its plastic, and included software was a nice touch. I've been enjoying the included piano and synthesizer plugins. Haven't done much with the DAW yet as I already have one that I use.The controller is basically plug and play, although there are some functions that don't work with Reaper like the transport section, but I hear this is normal for this particular controller. The lights on the option buttons are a real lifesaver-- well not lifesaver, but coming from the smaller controller to this, it is nice to see where you are on the larger scale of keys. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone wants to have a decent controller for a reasonable price.

Does exactly what it needs to do

Purchased this to use with a band I sub keys on instead of bringing my big Yamaha Motif. Pretty much a plug'n'play with Garageband on an iPad and I drive a Roland KC 350 amp directly from the iPad headphone jack. Controls match up to Garageband pretty well. Also downloaded the supplied software to my laptop, works reasonably well too. In addition to the USB midi, has midi DIN jack, and can accept an external power supply. Basically, gives me an 11lb stage-ready workstation when paired with the iPad. My only (very minor) complaint is that the keys are a little stiff but tend not to notice too much playing live.

Just started using it

I have a panorama for home recording and I'm using this for live gigging. It's a little heavier than I thought it would be, but it's fine.. just builds muscle. The volume knob is flimsy, but overall, I hope it'll work for what I need. The price was right for what I need right now.

does the job

Does the job, plug it straight into macbook air garage band. i used it to trigger my keyboard sounds in garage band: hammond organ, baby grand, rhodes, etc. no latency problems. i can adjust key sensitivity with garage band setting. octave buttons are a snap. lite weight to carry to recording studio. actual feel on keyboard is a little "too springy" but that seems to be the norm on most midi controller keyboards today.
