An awesome alternative to a typical practice pad

Whether you're just getting started on the drums or simply need something smaller than a full kit you can use for routine practice, then you're going to get a ton out of the KAT Percussion KTMP1 Multipad. The KTMP1 gives you four distinct velocity-sensitive zones you can play with sticks or your hands, and you can call up 50 high-quality, fully adjustable sounds, which makes it easy to create cool and interesting rhythms. What's more, the KTMP1 includes an 1/8" headphone output, so you can practice without plugging into a separate sound system or bothering your neighbors.

Grab-and-go drums for all kinds of gigs

One of the things about the KTMP1 that immediately caught the attention of the drummers here at Sweetwater are its two pedal inputs. What makes these inputs so cool is that they allow you to hook up a kick drum trigger and a hi-had controller, turning your KTMP1 into a mini drum kit. Pop it on a snare stand and you're good to go. Now, instead of even having to haul around a cocktail kit, you can throw your whole percussion rig in a bag and bike to your next gig if you like.

Flesh out your acoustic kit with cool electronic sounds

If you've been looking for a way to trigger off cool electronic percussion sounds at your acoustic kit, then the KAT Percussion KTMP1 Multipad is the perfect addition to your drums. It's small and easy to position between your drums, and the four zones offer plenty of percussion power you can use to add booms, chirps, and other hard fun electronic sounds.

KAT Percussion KTMP1 Multipad Drum Module Features:
  • A compact electronic drum pad and percussion instrument anyone can afford
  • Play the 4 velocity-sensitive pads with sticks, mallets, or your hands

Awesome MIDI controller!

I bought this percussion pad for just one reason... to create virtual drums tracks in my DAW without having to pound the crap out of my keyboard's keys. I connected the pad to my DAW using the MIDI output, not the USB. My connection is like this: KTMP1 > MCS2 MIDI Control Station > MX-28S MIDI patch bay > Audiofire12 interface > PC. The reason I'm showing you the full path is to also let you know that I hear absolutely no detectable latency via MIDI. It responds just as instantaneously as a controller should. I loaded some drum sets into Kontakt, adjusted the MIDI notes on the PAD, picked up a set of drum sticks, and within ten seconds of playing the KTMP1, I was sold. At the default pad sensitivity setting of 5, everything felt just right. The KTMP1 operated exactly how I was hoping it would. I am really looking forward to ripping out some virtual drums tracks with this thing!

KAT Percussion Pad

I'm just an amateur who appreciates the Drums in Classic Rock Songs and have been beating on my Steering Wheel to the Congas in Santana Abraxas thinking I'm really catching on to the beat. I decided to test myself and have tuned my KAT Pad to the Congas. Plugging in my earbuds, I can work on rhythms or play along without having to disturb anyone. Picking up anything new is always gratifying and, someday, maybe I'll sit in with a band. If you think your want to appreciate music more, look through the Sweetwater Catalog, buy something, and push yourself. It's easier than you might think...

Allowed me return to drumming after 50 years

Always dreamed of getting a drumset but didn't have the space. With this multi-pad and the optional kick and hi-hat pedal, I have nearly a compete kit - dream-come-true. Now practicing away to get my technique back. The four pads for me are assigned to snare, hi tom, lo tom, and ride. I may hsve to buy a second KTMP1 so i can add crash, floor tom, stick on high hat, and maybe a cow bell or second crash. Each drum piece is tunable. This means that the one internal tom piece csn set higher on one pad and lower on another. The internal sounds are great. But real magic is to use it as a midi controller. With Kontakt, I can play Ringo's set from the Abbey Road collection on my laptop. With Sampletank iOs, I can play a range of sets on the iPad for a totally portable "live" gig situation. Also, i use it as a hand drum. I follow Tom Teasley, the world percussist, and have his method from Alfred Music publishers.

This thing is just awesome! I was able to learn drumming and rhythm on one. For a kick pedal, I used the kick pedal from a Guitar Hero Drum Set. I quickly grew out of it, I thought, and bought an Octapad. I traded in the KAT toward an new Octapad. Later I assembled a full hybrid Pearl kit here at SweetWater. Recently, a buddy wanted me to add percussion at a bar while he played his acoustic guitar gig. If I had one of these, I probably would have joined him. I also have the Roland HH and Kick pedals from the Octapad now, so now I want to order one of these Kat KTMP1's again for portability reasons to make a super-mini-drum-kit. I can't wait. I would give this thing a 5 rating if it let you save/recall multiple kit configurations, but for this price, I really can't complain. It will also work great to add sounds to your existing kit. Love the Tambourine sound in this thing too. I recommend this thing for all skills and kits. Enjoy!
