Playing Drums since I was 4. Recording Musician/Live Musician

To preface my review I would just like to say that I am a recording Drummer/Home Studio/Engineer/Songwriter who has been playing drums non-stop since 1972. I have been struggling to solve my problem of not being able to record REAL DRUMS in my apartment for a long time now. This has been a big issue for me, and I am glad to say that it seems the days of being held back appear to be over.
The anticipation was palpable when I finally received my KT-4 (as it was on back order for about a month), However my guy Justin at Sweetwater kept me from jumping off the Tobin Bridge, and was really helpful throughout the process.
Upon getting the unit set up I was really excited as I had seen every video and review online for the Kit about a hundred times while I waited.Well, the wait was more than worth it. I have long wondered why someone hasn't simply built an (affordable) set of Electronic drums that gives acoustic players the sounds they have sought in an electronic Kit.Wait no longer my Brothers(and Sisters).
The kit has great American Gretsch kits(in my opinion the best made Drums on the Earth), D.W. as well, and a Ludwig called the N.C. Classic (I believe). The sounds are top notch, and sound even better recorded than they do in the headphones.WOW.The other included Kits (such as the Indian) are really great too.The feel of the pads is unbeatable as far as i'm concerned, and the three zone cymbals perform(and most importantly) sound better than any I have ever used. IMHO this Kit put's Roland or any other Companies Kits to shame.
The rack is easy to set up and the most solid one that I have ever encountered. The ease of use when it comes to the Controller/Brain is really a great feature and is really quite easy to navigate. You can create whatever mixture of the included sounds easily and they give you plenty of empty kit slots to use.
Connectivity-I use Abbey Road Drums/Battery 3/as well as Easy Drummer 2.The KT-4 brain hooks you up with Your favorite program and in no time you are sounding like a Champ! That said I still think the on-board sounds give those programs a serious run for their money.
For me the KT-4 is a Grand Slam of a purchase and not only makes sense in Dollars and Cents,It will probably improve Your general quality of life as well!
Hook Yourself up with this COOL KT-4 and get ready to smile from ear to ear!

KAT 4 puts the competition on check with this one!

Built tough, sturdy framework and good components that fit well and are easy to turn.

In a nut shell, " it took my breath away the first few times I jammed!

Needed to add drums to my project to make it entirely solo, and these were the route I took.

So far so very good Indeed! So realistic sounding and the connections coupled with the pad materials make this kit feel as real as affordable as possible, and achieved that...

Trust me I was hesitant having played high end Roland mesh headed v drums...

The kits are good and easy to manipulate. Out the gate this was a great addition to my musical journey,

Sweetwater just makes that journey easier and more professionally!

Thank you all at Sweetwater as I am a new Loyal Customer! Mike is the man. And Chuck has the plan!

Great kit to use for triggering software

This is the only kit that has 3 zones on all of the symbols
That is including the high hat
I don't know why they don't promote it more for triggering software
Nothing out ther even comes close to this for expression
I know the td50 has 2 new digital pads but the crash symbols and high hat are two zone
I use a mesh head snair with it because I like the feel of it better
But I love the rubber heads for the toms

    great hihat controller

Although I don't own the kt4 kit, I did purchase the hihat controller from Sweetwater. They were very helpful and the parts arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I own an Alesis Dm8 kit and I was searching for a more realistic hihat controller. I didn' want to pay for a Roland and the Alesis pro x has received negative reviews. If you order this you will also need to order the hihat clutch to keep the to cymbal from spinning. You may also need to order the hihat seat and a power cable. The only down side to the unit is that when you close your hihat the cymbal trigger input box rubs against the controller which adds resistance, creates noise and cause the cymbal to sit at an angle. This is easily fixed by adding two additional hihat clutch felts between the cymbal and the controller. Works perfect!
