Great little amp with the right speakers.

The KeyPro K-100s is a great little workhorse of an amp, but it took months of playing before I blew out the Eminence Alpha 8" woofers that come with this amp. It should have happened sooner. After browsing around several forums and reading opinions I opted to replace the Eminence Alpha speakers with Eminence Betas and that did the trick. Better tone, more power handling, less distortion. Good stereo separation and tone control, plus the 3D spatial enhancer that gives the stereo effect more depth. I play a Hammond SK2 through this and mostly used it for my personal monitor and run direct lines to the FOH. Easy to setup and use, small footprint, and my bandmates love it. Too bad it comes with such low-life speakers but it's an easy task to upgrade them and make this the amp it's meant to be.

Great amp, but...

This is the best-sounding amp I have ever owned (along with the KP-200S, which I also own). The problem is that both of these amps have developed serious problems over time, and it is impossible to get them repaired! The company is supposedly active, but no repair tech seems to be able to get parts, schematics, or even an email out of them. Too bad! You'll love the sound, but buying a boutique item has its drawbacks....

Just What I Need....

I always insisted on a stereo sound and am glad someone has thought this concept up. I don't need much volume, but do need a good sound and stereo imaging. This little puppy is amazing for it's size and weight. The stereo imaging hardware installed does a convincing job. Just turn the 'expand' knob and the left and right speakers seem to spread out across the stage. Granted, it's not quite as convincing as having separate speakers on each side of the stage, but it's pretty close and in my estimation, quite satisfying. My only complaint is that it doesn't have much bottom end and overall volume is a bit weak, but, then, it is only 100W total. I use the subwoofer output on back and leave the bottom end to a separate 100W subwoofer cabinet. Combined, they produce decent volume.

Sweetwater Advice

Playing a keyboard through a mono amp is like watching a 3-D movie with one eye closed; it totally misses the point. Motion Sound makes some of the best-sounding stereo keyboard amps I've seen (or heard). You owe it to yourself, your keyboard, and your sounds to plug into one and hear what you've been missing.
