    Great Mics

I compared these with Mitek 's set of C-3's The C3's are a great set mics, but I ended up going with these for overheads. The sound seemed to come through in a more classic way. The Mitek's were great (they included more in the set and were slightly less expensive) - but had a slightly different sound. The Miteks C-3's are a better deal. - it just depends on the sound you're going for. I reluctantly returned the Mitek's after much debate. You can't go wrong with either- but there is a reason the Neumanns have the notoriety they do. It was a tough choice, it depends on the sound you want. These are great mics. Worth the hype. (it is a personal choice) but I love the sound. Use your own judgment - you can't go wrong with these If you can afford them. There are many great microphones out there, these just sounded better for me (fuller and richer - flat but full), I endorse them.

A great stereo pair of Mics!!

I've only had these for a short period of time, but it has not taken me long at all to get great Drum OH sounds.. Running them into my API 3124+ then to the Apollo quad and everything is just perfect.. Don't settle.. Get these hands down.

    Great O=overheads for a 3-mic drum setup.

I used these on a session just last night. I had used the KM184s (cardioid) as OHs on a set before and was not as pleased with the result compared to some AKG 451s. However, I decided to give these a shot in a 3-mic setup with a Royer R122 front of kit and the 183s spaced pair. They were all running through CL 7602s with the X-mod... The results were detailed, natural, and warm! I couldn't believe how much body I was getting out of the Neumann's from the toms and snare without kick mud. Highly recommended, and I don't write reviews.

    Great Product!

I recently purchased these microphones, and I'm extremely pleased with their performance! I had them in the AB position to record a live wind ensemble performance. ORTF, NOS, Blumlein, or any of the positions that have the microphones close together were out of the question due to the visual appearance to the audience. So I knew I would have some stereo imaging issues with the microphones set at about 7 feet apart from each other, angling inward. Despite the recording having that very issue, the quality itself was top notch! Every detail in the band was captured beautifully. I can't wait to get the chance of setting the microphones properly, then I'll be a happy camper.
