    Easy to use

Very easy to use, and it does the job it is supposed to do.

    Kiser Lifeguard

These are simple to use and work great. I live in a cold climate and have two fireplaces in the house so humidity is usually low. These are well designed and work.

    best humidifier system.

This humidifier covers the sound hole, so the moisture stays inside the guitar.

Nice idea but requires careful use

The Kyser lifeguard is shown in a Martin setup video, and can be used in the sound hole of a guitar to humidify the interior. I found the fit a little too tight in my D-28, and I was also worried about any hidden residual water damaging the top of the instrument since there are crevices in this product, so I haven't used it there on that fine instrument. Would probably be ok in the sound hole if you make certain no water is dripping and wipe it carefully. Better yet let it dry a couple of days so the sponge is just damp. Works fine in the case under the head stock. Its a little too small for an another old guitar I have that is dry, but works if slipped under the strings and for that it worked well.

    Beware with nitro finishes!

Bought on the recommendation of local luthier who did a setup on my new Martin D-18, which has a nitrocellulose finish, so I assumed he knew what he was talking about. I was wrong to assume that, though, as it only took a couple days in the soundhole of my D-18 to do damage to the finish all around the soundhole (haziness, etc.). It was not from water, either, as I meticulously ensured that the sponge was just damp (not saturated) and that the entire exterior of the humidifier was dry, even all of the crevices, before using it that one time. Rather, it was an interaction between the humidifier (vinyl and plastic) and the nitro finish. Luckily, with some careful but tedious polishing, etc., I was able to restore the finish aorund the soundhole. Needless to say, I will never again use this humidifier in this (or any other) guitar of mine, as it took very little time to damage to my beautiful new D-18. Shame on Kyser for not having a warning anywhere about the danger of using this humidifier, with nitro finishes -- guess I just had to learn the hard way.
