Perfect for me

You've probably read reviews here and on other sites about the sound distorting when you crank up the volume. Roland, for some reason, set the input levels at -20dB. I think they were trying to get the input sensitivity to a point where the amp could be used for instruments, microphones, and keyboards. Without getting too complicated, electronic keyboards typically have a line level output of -10dB at full volume. Running that into an input set for -20dB means exactly what people complain about--when you get the keyboard volume level set at more than about half way, it will overdrive the amp input and cause distortion. The solution is simple, back off you keyboard volume levels to no more than half. Then, use the amplifier's volume controls to bring up the sound level. If you're using multiple keyboards, you may have to do a bit more tweaking with the keyboard output levels. Once you get it dialed in, it'll be fine. I like the amp. I have two of them. I play regularly in the orchestras for local theatre companies. The amp is lightweight and compact making it easy to load-in and load-out and fit in tight quarters. It has a 10" woofer, a horn tweeter, and two bass ports. The sound is clean and doesn't color the input signals.

Save your money

Well this may simply be a case of it being too small for my needs; however, it's not very powerful. If volume is turned up more than half way the lo end gets reallt distorted, the high end sounds tinny. For this amp too sound OK, it has to a little less than half volume and then you better turn down your TV set because you will have trouble hearing it. Simply put, this amp is not for me!

Roland has long been making the clearest, loudest, and most useful keyboard amps in the industry. It's rare that I sell any other keyboard amp in this price range.
