Amazing Ukulele!!

This is an amazing baritone ukulele!! The sound unplugged is amazing and when plugged in was even better!! I have two other concert size ukuleles and this ukulele beats them both! When sent, it was safely wrapped and packaged. I am going to shop on SweetWater from now on and it is also amazing that they give you a little bag of candy. It shows that they care about their customers and if anything happens they are willing to do what they can!! Thanks SweetWater!!

The Kala KA-BE Baritone w/EQ came setup very nicely

At the time I am writing this review I have had the Kala KA-BE for only five days. I only have owned one other ukulele and that is a much less expensive Rouge baritone so that is the only thing I have to compare. Out of the box as delivered from Sweetwater the action was nice and low, as far as I can tell it was perfectly setup. The finish is a beautiful satin mahogany. The neck is strait the tuners do not slip. The mahogany top is very thin, this may be for sound quality but it looks delicate so this might not be the not be for someone with small kids and it might be best to store this instrument in a hard case. A card that came with this uke said it had Aquila strings and despite all the great reviews I read about that brand it sounded odd to me. Not being a true musician I can best describe it as a boing boing sound when plucked or strummed. I installed Martin baritone strings the same as I have already have on my other cheaper uke and the Martin strings sound sweet. Now that both the Kala and the Rouge both have the same Martin strings I can compare them better, the tone sounds much the same but the Kala is louder even without plugging it into an amp. The pickup in the Kala KA-BE works very well and so far I have had no bad feedback even when the practice amp is only a few feet away. A side note is that if you are going to share an instrument with kids or live a rough and tumble life style you might want to check out the lower quality but built like a tank Rouge Baritone. Over all I am very satisfied with the Kala KA-BE but the stock Aquila strings that came on it were disappointing. I am giving this four stars instead of five only because the top is so thin I fear its durability and because of the original strings.
