The wonderful look and sound of Koa

Koa is a treasured tonewood that's only found on the Hawaiian islands. In Hawaiian, Koa means "bold," surely describing this wood's gorgeous, curly grain; figuring; and now its rich, acoustic tone. Koa is prized for its combination of warm tone and beautiful looks. The Taylor K28e looks as good as it sounds!

Oversized Grand Orchestra body delivers power and detail

The Taylor K28e Grand Orchestra is the biggest guitar body that Taylor makes. This large footprint offers a bold and rich voice that is extremely responsive. Unlike other large body styles, the Grand Orchestra has an even, full-range response with big bass. A new bracing design increases sustain while coaxing loud, complex tonalities. The Taylor K28e Grand Orchestra acoustic-electric guitar has the power and rich detail you want from an acoustic.

Taylor Expression System 2 electronics deliver superior sound onstage

If you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your K28e acoustic guitar. The key to this fantastic system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of where it's positioned and how it's integrated into the K28e's saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls let you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression.

Book 'em Dan'l

Absolutely stunning workmanship, wood match, totally amazing. The tone is akin to big leaf maple crossed with mahogany. Highs like polished glass, crisp well-defined midrange and an authoritative bottom-end. The inlay on the fingerboard inlay reminds me of an antique end table my grandmother acquired in the late 1800's (which she thankfully left to me). Next up: how about a highly figured cocobolo body with a tight-grained western red cedar top.

A must have

I attended a Taylor Road Show and just couldnt leave with out this guitar. A Koa was always on my list of top guitars to buy. I am giving a 4.5 simply because I purchased the 2013 without the ES2 system. I am still playing with different strings on it trying to find the tone I actually want. But what I love about this guitar is it doesnt take much to make it sing. It can scream or it can be as suttle as you want it... I play with two other guys and I love to add that different sound. Finger picking or playing further back on the body to get that erie sound. This is one guitar I wont let leave my collection. It plays better each time I pull it out.
