Short-scale Grand Concert with the Sweet Sound of Koa

An all-Hawaiian koa body gives the Grand Concert Taylor K22ce a bright top end, sweet midrange with natural compression, and gorgeous good looks. The first thing players will notice about the K22 is its stunning full-length Island Vine fingerboard inlay. Next will be the tropical mahogany neck's fast satin finish and responsive ebony fretboard, built to keep up with the fastest and most nuanced of players. And finally, you'll notice the Taylor ES2 electronics, which deliver clean and natural amplification into an amp or direct into a board. Sweetwater guitarists are sure that players who enjoy the slinky string feel of a shorter scale and comfortable shape of the Taylor Grand Concert body will feel right at home playing the K22 and will appreciate its unique look and sound.

Taylor K22ce Grand Concert 12-fret Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:

All-koa construction brings a new look and tone to the Grand Concert

Koa is a dense hardwood known for its bright top and sensuous midrange. Instruments made with koa tops and bodies have a tendency to further open up through aging, handling, and playing. That makes the Taylor K22 an investment whose sound only appreciates with age. The K22ce's smaller Grand Concert body style and 24-7/8" scale length make it comfortable to play and easy to travel with, with a unique tone that comes alive onstage or in the studio.

Taylor Expression System 2 electronics deliver superior sound onstage

Artists who play plugged in will appreciate the natural-sounding Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics onboard the K22ce. This system features a three-section proprietary pickup located behind the guitar's saddle for clear and accurate sound reproduction. Discreet contoured master volume and tone controls let you tweak your sound and output from the stage, and a phase switch helps you squelch feedback before it starts.

Taylor K22ce Grand Concert 12-fret Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Taylor Grand Concert with the look and tone of koa
  • Hawaiian koa top, back, and sides deliver a sparkling top, balanced body, and natural compression
  • Great for fingerpickers and delicate players
  • Reduced body size and scale length for comfortable playability
  • CV bracing with relief rout for improved bass and resonance
  • Tropical mahogany neck with fast satin finish
  • Ebony fretboard responds accurately to nuanced playing styles
  • Jaw-dropping Island Vine fingerboard and headstock inlays
  • Venetian cutaway for upper-fret access
  • ES2 behind-saddle pickup with balanced output for clean and natural amplification

k22ce 12 fret

I have to say this guitar is awesome! I have a 914ce also and have to say when I feel like playing a little darker tone like minor chords this guitar blows me away! The details are awesome and looking at the guitar is like looking at a piece of furniture. Very easy to play as the action and Taylor neck are awesome! The 914ce is the most incredible guitar I have ever played but this beauty is not far behind! You cant go wrong with this 12 fret guitar. Thanks Jonathan Appleton at Sweetwater for helping me afford this awesome addition!!!! If you can afford it you wont be disappointed.

K-22ce 12 fret - awesome

I recently purchased my new K-22ce 12 fret from Sweetwater to replace an (excellent) Taylor 522e (all hog) 12 fret I've had in my collection since 2014 (also purchased from Sweetwater). What I was looking for was a guitar with a tonal response as balanced and sweet as my 522 but perhaps with a bit more at the top and low ends. I knew that a Koa guitar will get better with age so I was prepared to hear that it may start out thin on the low end. Surprisingly, while the 522 does have a bit more thump (it's played in a bit), the two were not very far off. The K22 does have a top end that has a more sparkle and a bit more clarity. It's mid and top end is also a bit more complex which I like (i.e. a bit more sustain and overtone bloom). I also play some songs with some notes up the neck and I enjoy the easier access the cutaway gives me. I thought this guitar would be best for fingerstyle but it works pretty nice for flatpicking too. The quality of the build and the finish work is perfect. The fretboard inlays are beautiful and the wood just glows. This was the most I have ever paid for a new guitar. Sweetwater made the risk very low in offering me 30 days to try it out with free shipping back if I decided not to keep it. Ian Angle has been my sales engineer since I first started dealing with Sweetwater in 2013 and he has always come through for me. So I got what I hoped for and a bit more with this purchase so far. 4.5 out of 5 on the rating with the slight deduct only for the Koa to open up with more playing time.
