Full range bang in the box!

By Kevin Greene from Palmetto, GA on April 8, 2024 Music Background: Proffesional DJ and sound rental guy since 1980

Really simple review here… These full range speakers do the job very well. I heard them in a venue a few years ago and said they sounded great. I bought 2. Then I started adding as my system needed more sound reinforcement. I currently have 6 and they do not fail to amaze me. They may cost a little bit more than another full range 12 inch speaker but they have stood the test for me!

Definitely the best 12 inch speaker on the market in my opinion.

Sound freak!

Just bought 1 of these. Already had the sub. 1st thing I noticed was the clarity.I turned it up at 80%- NO DEST0RTION-SUPER CLEAR!. DOES NOT LOSE CLAIRITY AT HIGH VOLUME. Great speaker!

Powerful, Clear and Punchy

By Donald Bennett from MARTINSBURG, WV on November 24, 2023 Music Background: Club DJ and KJ for over 15 years

These are hands down the best powered monitors that I have ever owned. I have played many different sized rooms and these have always done the job and Ive never clipped them. I challenge anyone to find a powered monitor that sounds as good

Sound great

By Loxx on September 26, 2023

Using a set of these for the past month on the road in replacing a set of K12s (1000 watts). With the K12.2s, there's plenty of head room and they just sound so much better than the K12s. The choices of EQ presets is well thought out, as is the flexibility in using either line, hi-Z or mic input levels. One thing I'm not a fan of is LCD displays. IMO, they seem to be the weak link in electronic systems and ultimately fail. The choice of 2 pole mounting holes is straightforward. One standard, the other at a 7 degree tilt, I believe. The K12s uses a rotating ring to select either standard or tilt mounting. The problem with the K12s is if the ring is not set to its detent, the speaker will not seat onto the pole. It became yet another checkpoint in setting up. Happy the K12.2s shortened my checkpoint list. Overall, I'm pleased with the noticeable improvement in sound over the K12s.

Great Pair of Speakers

Great pair of speakers and a great salesman, Greg O'Keeffe.

Great Speaker

By Evan Reyes from Chicago, IL on August 10, 2023

Super clear, loud, no BS, easy to understand and control. Heavy, but that's what comes with a speaker of this size. Gets hot on the back panel, but I think it's made to be that way. I use mine with my Fractal Audio AxeFx Mk III as a cabinet and a personal on-stage monitor. Works super well in all use-cases.

Best Pa speaker

By Firmanthe st-St-Cyr from CAMBRIA HEIGHTS, NY on August 7, 2023

I never stop using K12.2 since 2016 because of the quality. From that date I never used any Pa Speaker then the K2.

Powerful, clear.

These sound great! I use them for a Roland TD-50 KV2.

Upgraded from Mackie

By Drummer with Alpine Drive from Missouri on April 21, 2023 Music Background: too many years of playing

My rock/grunge cover band upgraded from Mackie Thump 12's (playing sets with 15" Carvin subs as well) to these excellent speakers. We noticed a large influx of available volume and a moderate bump in clarity too. We're able to now easily play outdoor venues with 300+ people with no issues. Our singers are very happy to not have to scream as much and can concentrate on actually singing to pitch. Happy Drummer in KC.

There is one thing when someone makes good sounding speakers.
But that is on a whole other level when someone makes the best sounding speakers with great built quality and 6 years of warranty.

Amazing PA speakers

By mike from Boise, ID on August 2, 2022

We have used the K12.2 for the last 4 years in dozens of venues. Every time we set them up in any situation we are blown away by how great they sound. Be it a small bar, big hall, outdoors, every time they pump out the sound with perfect clarity. Today providing music and constant commentary at a skate park competition. Full power in direct sun 90F+, didn't skip a beat. QSC is worth every dollar spent, and payed for themselves over and over again.

It's a monster!

By Paul E Rosillon from Doral, FL on July 6, 2022

This speaker is spectacular. You know when something is good, not only because it can get loud, but because even at high volumes is pleasent to listen to. This one does just that. I managed to cover an event in a mall with only one of these and the amplifiers, with a lot of room to spare.

It's not that big, and reasonably light. And it looks awesome.

Recommended.

I'm letting everyone know I went to the EV 50's which are twice as much. However, I already sold those and went back to my QSC 12.2. I feel you can push these to the limit. Also you can take the plastic cap off the top and add a dance light. Less to carry in. Plus a cleaner look.

QSC comes through!

By carl brown from grand prairie, TX on June 14, 2022 Music Background: 20 years drumming, at least!

5 stars! These speakers are absolute beasts! Definitely more powerful than the originals and the DSP gives plenty of options! This was almost a 2 or 3 star review, literally, but QSC came through with updates to fix an aggravating problem. I've owned a pair of original K12's for 8 years and they still pound! I decided to get more speakers, so of course I went with QSC. I bought a pair of K12.2's, a pair of K8.2's, and a pair of KS118's (subs are awesome also!- but that's another review). The problem with my all of my new K tops was intermittent stoppage when miking my kick drum (found forums describing said problem - but no real solution). I'd have to cycle the power switch, and then they would work for a while- sound aggravating? Yeah, well I sent two to a local speaker repair shop for warranty- QSC's warranty is another incredible reason to buy these speakers! They replaced the amps, but to no avail! Frustrating! Arrgh! Finally, QSC came out with update v1.3.3 for the K8.2's and v1.4.1 for the K12.2's! Problem solved, and because these speakers are so LOUD AND CLEAR, there is no way anything less than 5 stars would be appropriate, even with the almost year long ordeal to solve my problem!

Cannot be beat!

By Michael Dufault from Bessemer City, NC on May 12, 2022 Music Background: live music

You can really push these boxes! I have used these now for almost a year in a live 3 piece band situation. They are crisp, plenty of headroom and capable of handling even smaller outdoor gigs with ease. I paired these with a pair of EV ETX15sp subs and the system just stomps!!

Amazing

Super happy with this item! Sounds great and lots of power. Highly recommend.

These things are incredible

By GCH from Washing DC area on April 4, 2022

I play drums in a jazz trio +1 (singer). The speakers are mostly for her, although in larger venues we sometimes have sound support for the other instruments.

For a number of years we've had Yamaha DBR12s, and we also got the feedback that people couldn't hear the singer. It wasn't volume, it was an issue of clarity.

The bass player has an older K12 and a K10 that we've used as a monitor, and we've been blown away by how clear they are. so I sold the Yams and bit the bullet for two of these.

These things are amazing. More headroom than we'll ever need, the vocals are so clear that they sound completely unprocessed, like someone singing without a mic - unbelievably clear. The K12.2s have brought out sound to a new level. They are a little smaller and a little lighter than the Yamaha DBR12s also. Truth told, the K10.2s are probably more than sufficient for what we usually do, but we do play some outdoor festivals, and it's nice to have somewhere to go.

These things are not cheap, but on the other hand, you get what you pay for with them.

the best of the best!

QSC K12.2 SPEAKERS

By Sweetwater Customer on January 21, 2022

They are the "Real Deal". The clarity is remarkable.
During the summer, I used them outside as sound reinforcement for church events. I ran singers and the whole band through them with (e.q. set at full range no sub). They never overheated, dropped sound quality, or clipped.
Also used them for indoor/outdoor DJ Gigs.
1) for any small to medium venue using only 2 speakers (with the need for a subwoofer as optional for medium venue).
2) i use (15 or 18 inch) sub woofer for medium - large to large venues and outdoors to extend low frequency.
I match the crossover freq. on the k12.2's with the sub(s)

I would highly recommend the QSC K12.2 powered speaker

The Best

By EDWARD NEWMAN from diamondhead, MS on January 1, 2022

I've had JBL PRO, moved to Turbo Sound Flood Kight Series, and Turbo Sound Flash Light Series.
Big gear for the old days.
Now I'm older and enjoy powered speakers. Had the opportunity to try several powered speakers. QSC Fidelity at low volume's or at high volumes won me over. Flexibility unlimited. I see other folks that have some gripes and disappointment's. You must know the purity in the signal is where I've seen folks have problems. The QSC is just producing what you input. I learned this early on bing on the road for 30 years which includes BOURBON STREET. I trust QSC,every gig I do now sounds awesome! So check that signal origin. Ed Bassist for many great bands!

Best multi-use speaker I own.

By Brent from Wyoming on November 6, 2021 Music Background: live sound engineer, owner of a sound and lighting company, touring guitarist, IATSE stage hand

I own a small production company in Wyoming. Own 4 of these. They are so versital. Use them for stage monitors on larger stages, mains in small clubs, delay speakers, outfills, dj set-ups. In terms of ROI these speakers have made me more money than I think any other piece of gear I own. Plan on long trem owning 12-16 as I replace older passive inventory.

Does the job.

By Wayne from Skipper on August 19, 2021 Music Background: Bluegrass and Southern Gospel for 50 years.

I have been looking for versatile speaker to play guitar, fiddle though. Thus far the K12.2 has been over and above my expectations. Will soon try playing pedal steel using the K12.2 and I believe it will work for this also. I would recommend it for the all around instrument speaker.

These things are FANTASTIC and live up to everything you read about them. I can't say enough about their versatility. I bought 2 and now all I need is 4 more for monitors and 2 18" Subs and I'll be golden! Anyone want to make a donation to my PA fund? They are pricy but 100% worth it. I am so impressed with the QSC products from their mixers to their speakers! Best product on the market today!

Awesome

By Raymond from North Carolina on June 15, 2021 Music Background: 30+ years of playing and sound.

I have bought 8 of these so far and matched them with QSC KS118's subs (4) and QSC KW181's subs (2) and they are awesome! I have used the speakers without the subs and if you set them up correctly you don't even need subs for smaller venues. If you are hesitating on buying these, don't! I think these are on par with RCF speakers. I really like them! Also, thanks to Caleb Lowery at Sweetwater...always sound advice from him...(pardon the pun).

Unbelievably loud!

By Kitzy on April 26, 2021

I haven't used/owned a set of PA speakers since self-powered speakers became a norm, and I've been skeptical of the all in one boxes for some time now. Picked up a pair of these on a recommendation from my sales engineer, and when they arrived I was shocked at how lightweight they were. My passive PA speakers back in the day weighed twice as much as these. I thought for sure they'd sound wimpy, thin, underpowered, quiet. I KNEW they were going to have trouble being heard over a drummer and a couple of guitar/bass amps.

And then I turned them on. Turned the gain knob up one click. Very quiet. Oh no, that's not a good sign. Two clicks. GOOD LORD THEY GOT LOUD. TWO CLICKS. That's all it took. These things are incredible. If you're on the fence, just get them. You won't regret it.

QSC K12.2 is the best acoustic guitar amp I have ever owned.

By cnp from Rochester, IL on April 5, 2021

I have owned some very expensive tube and solid state acoustic guitar amps. I have a Godin Steel Duet Ambience and it never sounded good through any acoustic amp. In fact, it sounded horrible. I set the K12.2 up in my studio to test it out and I'm drawing crowds while I practice. Plugged straight into channel two, line level. Everyone is telling me how fantastic it sounds. Can't wait to try vocals.

I decided tyo purchase the 2000W speakers for my classic rock power trio. We play Trower, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Montrose, etc. so we like thunping kick drum and crankin guitar and bass. This is the first time I used a 12 incher for the front and with no subs. This QSC 12 inch 2KW speaker set handles the low end with n problem. I have no problem using these speakers for an outdoor show. My last speakers were unpowered JBL's but the new"ish" technology of powered 2KW PA speakers is awesome!

Awesome Clarity with an amazing punch for the Bass for a 12" speaker

By Larry Placek from Georgia on January 8, 2021 Music Background: Over 40 years of performing with multiple groups

I've had numerous different brands thru the years and held of on getting these for years because of the price. Folks so well worth it. I did have a hard time deciding on the 8, 10 or 12. But for my group usually just two of us and mainly outside with the 12's more than enough extremely clean sound and enough punch for the bass and electronic drums. And to really not that heavy. I've matched them up with a QSC touchmix 8, so extremely happy with this set up

I Left and I Came Back to These!

By Michael Yanko from Cocoa Florida on January 8, 2021 Music Background: Professional concert photographer 40 years, mobile wedding DJ 21 years

I'm a very experienced mobile DJ specializing in weddings. In my opinion these K12.2 speakers are definitely tops in the size and weight range they fall in, and very competitive against larger speakers that are a lot heavier, cost a lot more money. I had my first pair of these for about a year and was very happy with them.

Then I came across a great deal on a KS112 sub, so I ran the three of them for about 2 months. Realizing that I was totally wasting the wonderful low end of the K12.2s I resold them and decided to try a pair of K8.2's with the KS112. The blended sound of this speaker/sub combo quickly convinced me that QSC probably had the K8.2's in mind when the created the KS112. It seemed to me that the mids and highs were better from the 8.2's than the K12.2's so I ran that system for six months. Surprisingly I fell into an even better deal on a second KS112! I sold my tripods, bout a couple of sub poles, and a double headed pole so when I did a small gig or travelled I could use just 1 sub. With both subs and two K8.2's my sound was nothing less than amazing!

Enter 2021. We have 5 long wedding road trips scheduled, a few of which we will be on the road for 2 weeks or more. Travelling with the single sub and the K8'2's was OK, but after adding a week's worth of travel gear there was no room left at all in my SUV. The logical thing for me to do was downsize, so I bought another pair of K12.2's with bags, rain covers, and tripods, and put the other system up for sale. Upon firing up the K12.2's to burn them in I was immediately reminded how good these speakers really sound. After letting them run for 6 hours I went ahead and cranked them up to about 75%. OMG I had forgotten how loud these things really get, and how crystal clear the sound is. With a little bit of extra bass EQ'd in and the highs toned down a touch these speakers will be fine for weddings up to 2-300 people. The lows on these speakers are so good I just plain don't need a sub! Without a sub the entire system; speakers, my laptop hard case, speaker stands, and my cable bag all fit nicely in my back seat That frees up the entire hatch area for suitcases, camera gear (my GF is a wedding photographer) and a large cooler.

I've already done 2 weddings this year with the K12.2's, rocked both receptions, cut 110 pounds off my system, cut my setup/teardown time by 5 minutes, and can now easily bring my entire system and camera gear into a venue all in one cartload.

K12.2, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Outstanding, Huge Sound.

By Jennings & McComber from Vermont on October 21, 2020 Music Background: Jazz, Celtic, Folk.

My wife and I bought these for our acoustic performing duo, which includes vocals, guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, double bass and accordion. We play several outdoor amphitheater and field shows throughout the year and were concerned that we'd need to bring along a subwoofer with the new K12.2's to fill these spaces adequately. We were wrong. From the first show these K12.2's were stunning. Our sound quality has risen to a level that we hadn't imagined possible. Our old 15" PA speakers can't hold a candle to these new K12.2's. Gone is the feedback, the distorted bass response, etc, etc. Very loud, very clear, very beautiful.

Expensive, but so worth it

By Dustin from Omaha on August 1, 2020

We bought two of these to play smaller to medium sized bar gigs. We run everything except drums through them and they sound amazing. Two guitars and a bass guitar all use a Line 6 Helix running into the mixer then straight to these. We were impressed by how hard the bass hits on these. I actually had to bring it down in the mix. Vocals did not suffer from running the bass through the same speakers.

Everyone compliments our sound when we use these speakers. Expensive, yes, but man do they sound good!

Amazing

Perfect FRFR

By Dave from San Antonio on June 14, 2020 Music Background: Gigging musician

After reading the Sweetwater review on FRFR cabinets, they also recommended the QSC K12.2 as an alternative. I've always loved the QSC sound, so figured the guys at Sweetwater know what they are talking about. Yup, they do! I paired this with my Eleven Rack, sounds better than my 65 Soho, yeah, that good. Then I paired it with my bass guitar plugin DarkGlass Ultra by Neural DSP, again, the QSC sounds better than my Hartke bass amp. If you are on the fence about an FRFR, QSC does the job extremely well. This will definitely bring your Helix, Kemper, Boss modelers to life.

The QSC 12.2 speakers - everything I hoped they would be

By Bob Birtles from Holland, MI on May 11, 2020 Music Background: Hobbyist DJ, guitar player

I was familiar with QSC having used one of their power amps many years ago. A couple years ago, I was at a wedding reception and the sound was fantastic. The DJ was using the K10 version of the speakers and they were loud, clear, and crisp. What really surprised me was the great bass response. I approached the DJ and asked him what kind of sub he was using with his rig. He smiled at me and told me he didn't need one. At least in that inside venue, there was no need. They sounded great.

I so some casual DJ work, play some music for backyard parties and a little bit of solo/duo music. My former rig included passive EV speakers with a powered mixer. I decided to pull the trigger on getting into some powered speakers. The QSC 12.2 speakers were showing up at some of my favorite local music venues so I decided after much research to get a pair of my own. WOW! My first gig was my niece's wedding reception. I decided to skip bringing a sub to the event. The sound was great and many people complimented me on the sound. I decided to sell off my old subwoofer and buy the QSC KS112 powered subwoofer to add a little extra bottom end especially for outdoor events. What a combination.

The largest venues I have used the K12.2s were for 350 people. I have done both indoor and outdoor events. It is plenty loud with lots of headroom. Not only that, it doesn't break my back to haul them around. Price-wise, they are more expensive than some other options. To my ear, they sound better. Once you use them, you will quickly forget about the price tag. There is truth behind the idea that you will never regret getting the best. Don't settle for something else, buy yourself a pair, or four.

Sweetwater is my go-to music source. Although occasionally an issue arises with a piece of gear (not the K12.2s), Sweetwater really does stand behind the products and does what it takes to make it right. Not only that, but my orders are usually delivered in 2 days. Awesome service and great people to work with!

WOW

By Kevin from Delaware on March 8, 2020 Music Background: House DJ

I just got two of these babies and let me tell you something.

The more you turn up the Volume the more they like it and the better they sound!

I tried to Max them out and they just said come on big daddy turn me up.

And that is what I did!

After a few drinks I had them wide open and the res light never came on shoot it never even blinked. You can not go wrong with these speakers.

In a couple weeks I will be getting the KS 118 and I can't even imagine how great the three of them will sound together!

Wasn't sure at first, but I was shocked

By Harold Schofield from Verona, NY on March 6, 2020

I had been using a converted 2 x 15 bass cabinet for my keyboards as a stage monitor for years with a powered mixer. Very heavy and cumbersome. I figured I needed an upgrade. Wasn't too confident that any 12" speaker could deliver any low end that could compare due to, well, physics. Boy was I wrong. I don't know how they did it, but there is so much punch in this tiny thing. It's something you just have to hear to believe. Obviously it isn't going to vibrate your walls or anything, but you would think it's something other than just a 12 inch speaker jammed in there. And 2000 watts? Yikes. Haven't even turned it past half volume yet, but the clarity is imporessive. No distortion. I love the preset EQ functions. Very nice. And I know it will last, as QSC has been a brand I have trusted for over 30 years. Don't be afraid and just go for it!

Worth The Money

By Matt Newland from Grand Rapids Michigan on February 26, 2020 Music Background: Dj/event sound staff

Previously my sound system consisted of the Mackie Srm 650's and below which were decent. I was looking for a subwoofer and because I'm boujee I like my stuff to match and I didn't want to invest more money in my Mackie Srm lineup. So I started shopping and decided on JBL Prx and the Qsc's. A guy demo both cabinets for me and converted me to Qsc on the spot. Add the new KS118 subwoofer and your easily rocking a dancehall with at least 350 maybe 500 with a minimal QSC package. These speakers are amazing and I'm buying 2 more k.2's very soon.

Truly as good as everybody says

By Sweetwater Customer on December 7, 2019

For several years, I have used a pair of QSC K8s when I needed something more powerful than a typical "club PA". Those Q8 speakers are tough to beat for sound quality, power and portability. And I will still use them a lot. They will probably be working perfectly and sounding great when I am long dead and buried.

But I do find myself sometimes in situations where I need a bit more power and lows (without having to carry a sub.) I put my new K12.2s to the test today in a telethon that included a bunch of singing groups performing with heavy hitting (loud) tracks. When the bands were not performing, the producer wanted the house system rather quiet, so the speakers needed to handle extremes of volume, sounding good either way. That is exactly what QSCs do.

In this case, I did bring a 12" sub. You wouldn't think that would be enough sub power for a loud rap/gospel program, but I crossed over at 70 Hz and that allowed the sub to provide plenty of punch -- i.e. with the QSCs doing most of the LF work.

The sound was terrific, and I expected nothing less. Plus these K12's are surprisingly portable. They really aren't THAT much harder to carry around than the K8s. I did get the Gator rolling cases. There is absolutely nothing NOT to like about these K12.2 speakers.

There is considerable confusion about "double the power". The original K series includes two (identical?) amp sections rated at 500 continuous. But the fact is nobody could ever use anything close to 500W for the HF driver. Maybe the 500W for the LF driver could be well utilized. With the "dot 2" series, QSC designed two different amps that are quoted at 1800 W PEAK and 225 W PEAK respectively for LF and HF. So basically the "dot 2" goes from 500W continuous to 1800W peak for the LF. If we figure that continuous is about half the peak, then the LF amp is upgraded from about 1000W peak to 1800W peak. That's not "double", but it is a big upgrade. The manufacturer represents it only as a peak sound pressure increase from 131dB to 132 dB.

Clearly this speaker can go super loud while maintaining great sound (if your ears can take it.) Double? Probably not, but I don't want to be anywhere close to these speakers if somebody is running them at capacity. I can't imagine anybody needing single speakers any louder than these. If you are running bigger events, you really need to be using line arrays for better coverage. I'm too old to be playing roadie for big festivals, so I'm thinking these are the last speakers I will ever need to buy.

QSC 12.2..A Superb Speaker

The Speaker Is A Beat. I Noticed The Bass The 1st Time I Used It. Way Louder Then My EV ZLX 15P. I Was Planning On Buying A Sub. May Still Buy One Later. But Not Needed. The Highs Are Crisp. The Lows Has Serious Thump. I'll Edit This More Later.

Have used the QSC K12 for years. Always reliable and sound great. Powerful too! When I don't use subs and I switch to deep mode, they do a great job on the low end. Highly recommend.

Seriously impressed with the performance!!

Ordered the K12.2 speakers for my church because of the reviews given. After installing and plugging in all the cords, the speakers did not respond. Wasn't sure what was wrong, so I called Sweetwater tech and they advised me about using the gain controls properly. After that, the speakers performed perfectly. Not being a sound technician, I was glad the people at Sweetwater walked me through the set up process. Thank you Sweetwater for all of your instruction in getting the speakers to operate properly. The people in the church love the clear clean sound these speakers put out. There is an enormous amount of headroom with these speakers. If you are looking for speakers that deliver clarity and fullness, I would highly recommend purchasing these.

QSC K12.2 Powered Speakers

Great speakers. They are very clean and plenty of power. Definitely recommend.

Don't wait!

By DJ DiRtBaGs from Beaver County Pennsylvania on April 7, 2019 Music Background: Bassist, DJ and Karaoke host since 2008

I've been musical all my life. Dreamed of being a rock star and admired DJ's. Played around with all kinds of music systems. Coming out of a band in 2008 and with my life long friend, bandmate and audiophile decided to start DJing. Trying to match speakers to amps and vice versa. I was never able to get the true sound I wanted and I was always fighting feedback.
Then I called Jonathan Appleton at Sweetwater Sound! This was a real game changer. He sold me a few totes and a microphone and I was hooked on the service and knowledge he had. I asked him a question about what kind of speakers he would match to the amp I had. He recommended a pair but was very insistent that I look at powered speakers. I don't know why I ever hesitated. I didn't trust him at 1st because he said the expensive one's will do nicely (not his exact words but that's what I heard) I've heard QSC's a few times while I was out so after reading all the reviews I bit the bullet and bought the QSC K12.2's.

Never have I heard such clairity, punch and thump. I was amazed right away. My venues are no longer restricted to small parties and bars. These things are mobile rock concerts in a box. The complements started flowing in about the sound quality. The inputs are plug and play (I was worried about that) it was an all around pleasant experience.

"Whoever didn't make it tonight missed a great sound system DiRtBaGs you rock tonight! I love you guys."

My Neighbors Hate These Speakers

By MICHAEL G YANKO from FL on March 7, 2019 Music Background: Owner - A Better DJ and Photographer

Just kidding, I'm courteous with the volume at night.

I have owned a multi-op DJ company for 20 years. We've had multiple sets of Yorkville, JBL JRX 125, 3 sets of E.A.W.'s, Mackie Thump12s (the 1000 watt ones), several models of Peaveys, and Yamahas. We always powered our passive speakers with QSC amps. I'm also a professional concert photographer and I consider myself to be an excellent judge of great sound.

We had a record month in February so I thought I'd go out and see what all the hoopla was about with these speakers and compare them to other highly rated speakers just for fun.

WARNING - Do not go anywhere and listen to these speakers! They talk to you and they get inside your head. They have you thinking that these speakers sound so much better than any that you've had in the past and that you must absolutely buy a pair RIGHT NOW! The clarity and the volume that these speakers put out is nothing short of amazing.

Excellent choice for bass

By pjn from florida on February 25, 2019 Music Background: 40 years of playing different styles: reggae, salsa, ska, jazz, funk, rock, r&b, country, etc

The new k12.2 exceeds all the other setups I have used previously, at least the way I need to use use it. I also own a Mark Bass 12p for smaller venues, but for larger venues no combination of speaker/amplifier was ever quite right - either because of sound quality or the weight factor. For larger venues I would use a GK 700RB married to a Hartke 410, while the sound was great, the weight of the setup precluded me from wanting to use it, so I retired it years ago, and since have tried various other combinations with the GK. Nothing came close until I tried the QSC. I use the line out from the GK into the QSC which allows me to tune the sound I want via the GK. For me, it is far and away a better choice for a wide variety of applications. Because of its relative small size, I prefer to use it even for smaller venues, rather than the Mark Bass combo. If you want to improve the sound of your bass, you will not be disappointed with this choice.

Couldn't believe it

By Charles W Ihloff from Fl on February 25, 2019

I've had all the original k12 stuff, but these 2 K12.2's sound unbelievable! The best sounding pair of speakers I've ever owned, and I've had JBL, EV, RCF, and both the Bose L1 model II's and currently 2 sets of the Bose F1's. The K12.2's sound fuller and are more portable. Loud too! I'm running the Presonus powered 18 aux, what a great portable bumping rig! Thx again David and Sweetwater!

NICE!

By LC from Anaheim, Ca on December 17, 2018 Music Background: Bass/Vocals/PA - Cover Band

We just finished our first gig with these, and they are excellent! Super powerful, easy to use, and the sound is very clear and nice! They are about half the weight of our passive Yamaha Club mains (those boat anchors were 64 lbs each!) so that's kind of a no-brainer. We are currently using them for our cover band in small to medium sized venues with a Presonus 16.0.2 mixer, two QSC CP12 floor monitors, and a Turbosound 15" sub. We simply switched the preset to "Live" and set the crossover to 80 Hz and plugged everything into the mixer and it all played nicely together and did what it was supposed to. We received so many compliments on the sound, and the best part is the smile on our singer's face because he can now hear everything so much more clearly! Expensive, yes - but TOTALLY worth it... not just for the great sound, but for the light weight especially. We're gonna take really good care of these.

fantastic speaker

By bob kaplan from northern california on December 8, 2018 Music Background: gigging drummer

My band upgraded to these and is thrilled with them. The sound quality is excellent - very clean and well balanced. They have plenty of power to handle all but the biggest rooms. They are also easy to haul around and set up on stands. Get the QSC cases for them as it makes it easy to carry them and the pocket in the case is perfect for keeping the power chord from getting lost. We are using 2 of these as our main speakers and 3 Yamaha DBR 10 as stage monitors. Makes for a nice set up for our 6 piece band.

Cadillac Jack!

By Jeff from Lincoln Park, Mi. on July 31, 2018 Music Background: Semi pro 40 + years

I have been using Mackie gear for the past 4 years, but didn't own powered monitors for my PA. i originally was going to stay with Mackie as i have 2 SRM 550's and 2 SRM 1850's, but after reading about all of the SRM 650 issues i decided to spend up and get 2 QSC K12.2's. I cannot say enough positive things about these speakers. From an engineering perspective- QSC did their homework people! I have not had even 1 issue with my Mackie gear, and it has always sounded fine. QSC speakers give me more headroom than the SRM 550's, and i worry less because of the built in fan on the K12.2's I don't hesitate to push them, and they respond! Clear as a bell. Fit and finish is better with the QSC 's in my opinion. So now, i use my SRM 550's as monitors, and the K12.2's as my mains. I will have to say if you are sitting on the fence as i was, and debating about the extra $200 for QSC.....it's a no brainer, theses speakers are the Cadillac Jack!

After exclusively using Bose speakers for several years I was looking for a more traditional speaker for smaller djing gigs and to use for band monitors. These K12.2's have blown my expectations away and then some. If I would have heard these before I bought my Bose F1 tops, I might have saved some money and just purchased these. They are crystal clear and thanks to the overhead you can crank these bad boys before any signs of clipping. QSC hit a home run with these K12.2's. I will definitely be purchasing more QSC gear in the near future.

There's a difference

By Until Dawn on June 19, 2018

We just upgraded our speakers from the K12 to the K12.2's. There is a difference. They are cleaner I am assuming due to more headroom, they are a little lighter, and it may just be me, but I think they sound better.

Just do it brothers and sisters

By Jimmy T from Colorado on June 19, 2018 Music Background: Hobbyist in a good band

If you're reading this, you're already interested so...JUST GO AHEAD AND BUY THEM! You will not be disappointed. These are KILLER front of house speakers. Our 6 piece bar/cover band runs these as our front of house P/A. In mid-size bar, full of people, we had them at 12 o'clock (so maybe 50%) and we were too loud. We run these at 25%-30% gain for quieter venues and the audience is very appreciative of being able to hang out near the stage while we are playing with the added plus of the sound being super full and professional. We run QSC K10.2's as monitors and these deserve a 5 star rating as well. One comment...if you don't need front of house P/A speakers for a band, the QSC K10.2's are little easier to haul around and sound incredible too. I'm kind of new to this, but my bandmates have all been gigging forever and they love the QSC sound we're getting out of these. Compliments from the audience and from bandmates, that's hard to beat. So, I know they're expensive but just do it brothers and sisters, the extra money is worth it.

The speakers fired up right away and sound absolutely awesome. We have a medium size sanctuary about 80 x 100 feet with a slightly raised stage with the speakers mounted on poles in chambers on each side. The sound is almost even throughout and is crystal clear. I could not be happier and look forward to this Sunday's service.

Not Only My Ears...

By Matthew Kaiser from Lincoln, CA on June 5, 2018 Music Background: In bands since I was 16; worked in churches and schools; gig most every week

Not only my ears experienced a difference, but so did the band's and the crowd's. And my back! These puppies are as advertised and deserve the highest rating of any PA gear I've purchased in my 40 years of buying.

Lightweight at 39 lbs (replaced 70-lb passives + 30-lb amp), easy setup, great integration with my QSC TouchMix 16, and the sound is crystal clear. Amazed by how much low frequency is present, even compared with the 15" speakers they replaced in my old rig.

Clear, Clean, Powerful Headroom

By Rick from Boston on May 28, 2018 Music Background: Cover band, commercial song writing

Not much I can add that others haven't said already - These speakers are amazing! The K12.2s have excellent power and clear, non-ear fatiguing headroom. I pair these with one Turbosound Milan 15 in sub and this combination is sick. Just played a outdoor gig with 2 bands and everyone was blown away by the sound. Plenty loud, great clarity, without a hint of distortion. In the past I have used JBL Eons and EV zlx's - the difference is staggering. I should have purchased these in the first place. They really are that good!

12,2 is next level stuff....

By Mike from New Jersey on May 20, 2018 Music Background: Sound technician/DJ

I am a sound engineer/DJ for an 8 piece cover band . Depending on the venue, I have been using KW 153 or KW 152 with the 181 subs. I am a big fan of QSC.

After researching the new .2 series for a while I decided to give the 12.2 a shot. Wow.

Last night we had a wedding with 300+ guests in a fairly large ballroom. The sound was amazing. Crystal clear separation of the high and low frequencies. Low end really shook the room and mids and highs carried every note.

If you are worried about volume, don"t. The .2"s easily filled the ballroom. Front house at 110-112 dB, averaged 100db at the back of the room roughly 30 yards away with a packed dance floor. Every bit as loud as the 153"s with greater coverage and clarity. Not a hint of feedback with every channel including the mains at unity.

When it came time for me to spin a few tunes the recorded music was just as strong.

Highly recommend these units!

Coming off a set of JBL EON 615's, these speakers are amazing. Initially I wanted the 15"s, but my Sweetwater rep thought the 12's would sound better with subs, and they do sound really good. The mids and highs are crystal clear.

Everyone in the band was blown away after hearing how good these sound. I'm now a QSC convert.

I was choosing between these and a pair of EVs. At first, I thought that both companies lost their marbles at the pricing on these things. I was used to buying in a lower line replacing a set of Mackie Thump 15s. Such a tough decision, but I know I made the right choice. I listened to each locally at a guitar center. Same source music, same volume, same settings and flat EQ. Same bass frequency response. Clarity was so close. The titanium tweeter in QSC was a little sharper than the EV. They started to separate themselves when you increased the volume though. The QSCs pushed a little harder, and the EVs started to muffle. Bought the QSC and them put them on my system. Then "mic drop" time....I put them on my Mackie mixer with iPad control. Adjusted the EQ for performance and they blew me away. I pushed them harder and harder, and they are like "bring it". 108db and they were still pushing for more. Not to mention, they were still clear! WOW! What a powerhouse in a small package!

Raised the bar. Again....

By SoulKrackers from Detroit on April 25, 2018

QSC keeps doing it. These are simply the best you are going to buy for the money. Solid. DSP is not overdone. 2000 watts of clarity. Already had 4 of the K10"s for monitors. Our drummer wanted more for bass feed so we bought a pair. These are so clean and powerful we replaced our 3 way main uppers with them in smaller clubs and they are better than the big system. Paired them with the TouchMix-30 and I can"t imaging improving on the system for live use. Thanks QSC. Again. Call James Masterson at Sweetwater. He will hook you up with the best knowledge and customer care you can ask for!

QSC Miles Ahead

By Jonas Palmer from Memphis on March 16, 2018 Music Background: semi-pro

Well, a few years ago I wanted to add some capable tops to my great subs. I bought a couple powered 15 inch mains thinking that if I ever needed huge sound, I'd have it with room to spare. Really, I wanted overkill to give me piece of mind regarding being able to handle a large room if I every really played in one. Normally, it's the medium sized rooms that would be the largest I play. I wanted some big tops that would sound equally good in any room, regardless of size. Anyway, I got tired of lugging the large 60 pound speakers around. I finally pulled the trigger on the K12.2 after some extensive research.
I played with these speakers the other night, and wow!! They sounded bigger than my other tops weighing in at over 20 pounds less each. So much control with the DSP....I really just set them to cross-over where my subs cross over (100 hz) and didn't touch anything else. They sounded so clear and loud it was amazing. I am playing a large room wedding tomorrow and I plan on really dialing these in. These are probably the best speakers that you can buy in their category. Do not wait or contemplate any longer. Buy the bundle with the totes included.....basically getting the totes for free and they offer top protection for you investment.

QSC K12.2 (X2)

By Jeff K from Savannah, GA on March 13, 2018

I recently bought two of these and I couldn't be happier. The sound and build quality are excellent. I can't really say more than what the other hundreds of great reviews haven't said already online. I want to add to this review how excellent the customer service is at Sweetwater. My initial pair of K12.2s came in super fast. Literally less than 24 hours. They were slightly damaged in shipping. I emailed and called a little frustrated and they immediately shipped another pair which again arrived less than 24 hours, without having to wait for the first pair to return to them. The second pair arrived in pristine condition and sound amazing. If you're on the fence about these and a first time Sweetwater buyer like I was, don't worry. I've been buying DJ gear for 18 years and this was the best experience I've have by far. I look forward to giving Sweetwater all my future gear money- and hit up sales engineer Gabe at extension 1602!

Fantastic Speakers

By BJ from IL on February 19, 2018

Have only used K12.2s for one gig the day after they arrived. These are amazing. Very easy to carry and set up at the venue. We replaced some very old passive speakers. It was very nice to eliminate 2 amplifiers from the rack (still using 2 passive subs). They meshed seamlessly with the subs and created a HUGE open sound. Several people commented that the sound was very clear . I am very pleased with these speakers. I expect these to be our PA speakers for a very long time. As always, Mike Soper (my sales engineer) was a huge help and I got the order within a couple of days. Mike and Sweetwater are a joy to work with. I have never had a problem that they couldn't remedy right away.

K12.2 vs Bose's F1 812

By Eric B. from North Carolina on October 27, 2017 Music Background: Sound tech/musician/DJ

Have been a sound tech for over 10 yrs. Bought two Bose F1 "stacks" when they came out.

I picked up a set of K12.2's from a DJ who needed some money and whoa!

I did a side by side comparison in my back yard.

-Sound pressures were quite a bit more with the QSC's
-Clarity in highs were equal IMO
-Bass was harder & tighter in the QSC's in "Dance" preset.
-Dispersion felt about the same (except when F1's are physically set in "C" pattern...love that option!)
-Price point...no brainer.
-Overall, QSC wins in my book.

Indoors, smallish venues, unless you're playing to a seasoned "club" crowd, no subs needed.

Buy 4! You won't regret it.

Great upgrade, even from the excellent K12's

By Dale Bjorklund from Saint Peter, MN on September 25, 2017 Music Background: Steady "weekend warrior" since '76

Dove in with a pair of both K12's and K-Subs in February of 2016. Great small to medium venue rock cover-band setup, right? Actually VERY good of course.
But my equipment acquisition insanity knowing no bounds, this past June I popped for a pair of these K12.2s.
These are REALLY something special. I'll just relay this little story. I had 'em set up at home and found the "No Sub" EQ pre-set. Oh. My. Lord. In heaven. I must do a show with these, and, just for fuzzies, leave the K-Subs at home.
Well the "show" was a short-throw outside thing, with the band setup between two buildings spaced about 40 feet apart with my band on a concrete slab against one building, shooting across to the other, with our audience on a little lawn area just off the stage area (between the buildings). I (drummer/vox) had a K10 for a monitor, with the rest of us monitoring with a couple Turbosound Milans (12").

Well I ran these K12.2s on that "No Sub" EQ setting, and we sounded REALLY nice! Kick drum, vocals, guitars, everything.
An old-timer buddy, both a great bassist and highly experienced live, dyed-in-the-wool "analog mixer-passives w/amps" sound guy verified it. He was actually a bit (but happily) stunned I think. VERY complimentary was he.
Make life easy, make life sound great, by a couple of these!
;-)

Thanks so much Alden Debee from Sweetwater for all of you expertise. I forgot to mention that I love the weight of the speakers as well. Great job QSC !!!

Tough and Reliable

By Michael Anderson from Pinedale, WY on August 8, 2017 Music Background: Guitar (electric and acoustic), DJ

I'm a guitar player and a DJ, and purchased a pair of the original K-12's in 2010. I had originally purchased Mackie Thump 15's, mainly in an attempt to downsize my sound rig, so I could reduce setup and breakdown times. The Mackies only lasted a few gigs, before the electronics on one failed, and I decided them to try something else more reliable, so I researched, and decided to purchase the QSC's. I have not been disapponinted...EVER! I cannot count how many times I have received compliments on how well they sound. The Deep technology makes it so I have no need for subwoofers, there is always plenty of low end, and with todays low end driven dance music, that is crucial. Not having to lug around subwoofers is a blessing, especially working as a DJ, by oneself. Plaing with the band, I used them as our main PA and as my guitar amp, and they sounded great! I only needed one for band practice, running my guitar through it, along with all the vocals. They are still my workhorses, after 7 years, and they still look good, with only a couple of small dents on the grills. I will likely let my 18 yr old daughter, who desires to become a DJ, have my old K12's, and I will be purchasing a pair of the new K12.2's. If they are anything like the originals, I hear they are better, they are so well worth the investment. I'm sure they will be awesome! Thanks QSC for such a reliable and satisfying product.

The new QSC K12.2

Love the nice clean sound from the QSC !!!!!!!

Worth the upgrade

By Sokin from Long beach on July 17, 2017 Music Background: Mobile dj

This speaker has a lot more headroom compared to the orginal k12. Along with the advanced DSP control on the back gives this speaker so much versatility. The main question asked by many is how does it sound. Well they sound clear and crisp in low and high volume. The speaker is well built but I always suggest getting bags, totes, or covers for them to keep your investment looking good. By the way this is a very beautiful speaker. I just sold my mackie SRM550 dirt cheap to help pay for these and I am happy. Check these speakers out!

Serious Upgrade

By Joe Christian from Chesterton Indiana on July 14, 2017 Music Background: Mobile Dj that specializes in Weddings

Sooooooooo I decided to upgrade my tops. At the time funds were low and for the money the Mackie Thump 15's were affordable and sounded pretty good. Fast forward a few years and yes it was time to upgrade. I had been researching for about 3 months when QSC released the K12.2. I had heard everything on the market and really liked the EV line and the QSC K12.2. So without hearing the K12.2 I made a call to the best Sales Engineer at Sweetwater, Nich Magnani. Nich explained the main differences and told me without a doubt the K12.2 was the way to go. I ordered them and as usual Nich took amazing care of me. I received them faster than the FLASH could deliver them. From the minute I took them out of the box, I knew the speakers were in a whole different league. When I plugged them in and did a side by side comparison, well it was like a 2 year old fighting Mike Tyson. If you are thinking about ordering them, just do it!!! You will not be disappointed. Want to be even more blown away, ask for Nich Magnani. You will be treated like a Kennedy in the 60's.

The DIFFRENCE MAKER In Speaker

By Jake Smith from PA on June 15, 2017 Music Background: Drummer/Vocalist (Pittsburgh Area Classic Rock Band)

This is the best speaker I have ever heard. That is really all that needs said. Paring this with the KW181 subs and you will get an absolutely amazing mix. These speakers alone would be enough for a medium sized venue with no sub. They get extremely great bass with how low of frequency it can reproduce. The clarity of these speakers is unparalleled and second to none. You can't go wrong with these. I purchased two of these last month and just recently used them in a gig outside. We played at a HUGE Drive-In, and the speakers had more than enough power being 2000W to carry across the entire place. The on-board settings allow you to "EQ" your speaker which is amazing. I will never buy another brand of speaker after purchasing these K12.2's. If you are interested in these contact Tyler Berggren! He did an amazing job explaining these and helping me out with ordering them! Again, Sweetwater is the only place to get your equipment!

Very impressed

By Super Dave from West, Texas on June 12, 2017 Music Background: I'm in a band....

I have been running a pair of JBL PRX 535s and two 518s subs for almost 10 years and was ready to go more compact. I had already worked with QSC K12s before but I was very interested in the new models coming out and waited until they were available for purchase.
I paired a couple of K12.2s with one KW181 and finally had a chance to test them out at a pool
party this weekend. Everything was crisp and clear and I received many compliments from those in attendance. The band was really happy with the sound. Because I'm OCD, I'll probably end up buying a 2nd KW181 just to get my mind right. Lol. I am very impressed with these speakers and the sound they deliver. I'm glad I waited on the K12.2 model. Shout out to James Masterson for all his help!

Packs punch!

By Matthew Leonard Coen from Colorado on June 2, 2017

Got my K.2 a few weeks ago and put it to use in a way that illustrates it's versatility. We had an outdoor gig at a local winery so I came prepared to use the K.2 as my monitor and my trusty 15' JBLs as my mains. Due to strong winds the owner made the decision to have us set up inside (medium sized room, high ceiling, lots of glass, lots of crowd hub-bub). Instead of using the mains I went with monitors and the single k.2 for the main.

My guy Tyler at Sweetwater had told me that the staff had listened to the K-12 and K-2 side by side and that the main take-away was not an increase in volume as much as the speakers ability to really push the sound...more sonic penetration without the need to "go to 11". This was definitely the case...the K.2 filled the venue with headroom to spare!

I have also used the two channels with individual volume controls at practice which eliminated the need to set up my board. Nice.

I did miss not having an owners manual to help understand how the set-ups on individual channels function...I guess this stuff is all done online these days. Perhaps I'm just one of those old school guys who likes to have it writing and available for reference without cracking the computer.

Sweetwater did a good job of under promising and over delivering...despite the "back ordered for two weeks" status, it was shipped within the week.

QSC has outdone themselves!!!

By Jeff Richards from NY on May 16, 2017 Music Background: Mobile DJ, Singer

These speakers are INSANELY awesome! I have the Original K12's, the K8's & A KSUB, so needless to say I was already a huge fan of QSC before these bad boys were released. I DJ'd a wedding & a prom with these last weekend and I've never sounded better!

HUGE thanks to Jeff at Sweetwater for helping me get these!

Home Run!

By Steve from Houston on May 15, 2017 Music Background: 22yrs Bass, Sound

Received my K12.2s last week and played 2 shows with them this past weekend. They replaced my K12s, which are very good. However, we needed some extra power to handle 11 drum channels, electric guitar, Bass, keyboard, and 3 vocalists, especially on an outdoor gig. The new 12.2s handled the outdoor gig just fine, set at a gain level of +6db, 4db below the max gain level. The crossover is as good as I have ever heard, the highs are crisper, the lows are impressive for such a small package, they don't tend to feed back as much as the K12s, and the setup menu is intuitive. Several of our following noticed the difference immediately, especially with the electric guitar sound. My PA no longer has any issues to address! I tried out all of the presets: QSC did a great job on the DSP. The new cabinet design is superb! The new monitor angle looks to be an improvement, the side handle is great, the tilt pole mounts are better, and the tops are flat now for easier stacking. Thanks to Ed Nystrom at Sweetwater, and QSC for another excellent solution!

QSC K12s

By James Scoolis from San Luis Obispo, CA on November 25, 2022

Other than the nearly 40 lb weight, the expensive price tag, and the easily marred plastic casing- these speakers are fantastic. The low bass frequency response eliminates the need for a sub in many instances. Noticeably better than my last system using passive JBLs. Totally impressed.

Year 4 with them now

Initially I purchased 4 of the K12.2 to supplement my 2 K subs and 2 Kw122. Liked them so much I purchased another 4. I want to thank my guy, James Wroblewski. He IS my go to guy and has helped me amass a rather large QSC sound system that has made a lot of my clients happy as well as myself. You cant go wrong with this system of powered speakers. I will be glad when they update to a new k15.2

Great upgrade

By William from Texas on March 28, 2019 Music Background: Apostolic preacher lead guitarist

Got these speakers last week for our church sanctuary. We had some Harbinger 15s which weren"t as bad as some say but you can definitely tell the difference in clarity on vocals and headroom. We put them on dance mode to see how loud they would get and put on Toby Mac when love broke through and the walls rattled with no clipping. They will crank louder than we will ever get them. The Harbingers would have never reached that volume without clipping. Sweetwater always gets 5 star plus rating from me customer service is the best. The only reason I didn"t give the 12.2 5 stars is there is a noticeable hum but when projectors are on and people praising Jesus you can"t hear anything. They are powerful and clean when praise team is leading worship I would definitely buy them again. Thanks to Nick Hammer for helping us with our purchase he gets 100 star rating

Fantastic speaker for FOH and Monitoring

By David Orick from Anderson, Indiana on March 18, 2019 Music Background: Drummer, Singer and live sound

I own a KW and KLA rigs and was using EV ZLX-12p for monitors. They sound good but didn"t have the depth and volume I was looking for in a wedge. I picked up four of the QSC K12.2"s and was completely blown away with the quality of sound and versatility of the speakers, plus the free totes were a nice addition too. I would have given them a 5 star but th QSC KW122"s are the best hands down the best 12" two way on the market! But for the price the K12.2 is the Ticket to a great speaker.

Pleasantly surprised

By Larry Chapin from MO on October 7, 2018 Music Background: Musician, guitar, bass, dobro, electric/acoustic

Purpose: sound reinforcement for a 4 piece band.

Comparison: I put this up against our 15" 2 way Bagend speaker and the difference was pretty remarkable. The K12.2 actually has more punchy bass than the 15" Bagend - I was not expecting this. And this was done with the QSC on the "Live Bright" setting. The "dance" setting was, of course, even more bass. I do feel like the Bagend has more headroom, if anything the QSC had a little too much "punchy" bass, which I think I can work on and smooth out with the DSP.

Overall I would say that QSC did an amazing job with this speaker - it's got a surprising amount of low end for a 12", but the only issue that I would have with it is that the bass is more "punchy" than "phat" and easy, if that makes any sense. Of course, Sweetwater is top notch with their customer service, Yuval Fuchs @ ext. 1367 is a grand master!

Minor Problems taken care of quicly

By Sweetwater Customer on July 18, 2018 Music Background: Semi Pro Musician

I had a minor problem with something on the back of the cabinet vibrating/buzzing at 215 hz. Sweetwater staff did an exceptional job taking care of of the replacement quickly, and extremely professionally. I can't say enough about how good they were when I'd addressed the issue with them. The replacement cabinet sounds great, plenty of power. A huge upgrade from the much heavier Mackie SRM 450s that I've been using for so long. The weight reduction will hopefully keep this old man playing for a few more years.

I've been dealing with one of their competitors for years, Sweetwater's excellent customer service on this transaction surely had an impact.

Wow

By Richard from Baltimore on March 23, 2018 Music Background: Club and Mobile DJ over 20years

First off let me start by saying there is always room for improvement so don"t be fooled by the 4.5 rating I gave. These are the ideal mobile speaker with everything included. I love the presets which takes the guessing out of crossover settings and eq tweaking and still give you the option to set your own crossover points. If this speaker has a downside i would say it has to be that I expected it to be lighter. But when it comes to the business this speaker packs a mighty punch in a small box with some awesome features.

Amazing Speakers!

By Jon Zielke from St. Louis, MO on December 14, 2017 Music Background: Sound engineer

I purchased these speakers to be used primarily as mains for small bands as well as with some theatre work. I was blown away by their power, clarity, and overall value. The sound quality is top notch with excellent clarity and tone throughout the frequency range, particularly with vocals and speech. The different presets and DSP options are actually quite useful. The build quality is of course excellent and these speakers are very portable. These were probably the smartest purchase I've made in awhile.
I will say I do miss the ability to turn the front LED into a limit light, I definitely used that feature a lot with the first K12 version speakers. I also wish the standby mode was optional, as the subtle pop-on of the speakers during a music or sound fade in an intimate theatre setting can be noticed a little more than I'd like sometimes.

Great sounding Speakers

By Kevin B from Michigan on October 11, 2017

I purchased these after doing a lot of research, including getting advice from AJ at Sweetwater, as well as trying out the original K12 speaker. Comparing the K12.2 to the Mackie I already had, there was a very noticeable difference in punch and clarity. I use these speakers for both small club shows as well as a powered monitor for my Fractal AX8 and vocal monitor with other groups I work with, and in both cases, the speaker does a very good job.

QSC K12

By James from California on March 10, 2023 Music Background: Blues, soul, funk, rock musician --band and solo

These are great speakers. They have a bass reflex that can eliminate the need for a sub woofer in many instances. Other than the bass response thought they have the same specs as the K10s (which I also have). I use the K10s 90% of the time. (Band and solo gigs) These do come in handy though for some bigger spaces. The only other negatives besides the redundancy factor with the K10s are the large price tag and the relatively heavy weight (38 pounds). But really QSC makes GREAT speakers.

Great speakers but...

By Luis on October 25, 2021 Music Background: Gigging musician

The good- They are loud and clear. Plenty of headroom and relatively lightweight.

The bad - Bought two, but one of the speakers stop outputting sound as soon as you hit it with a signal like a drum kick. Sweetwater sent me a replacement (refurbished) but is the same thing. I just cannot mic the drums because as soon as you hit them the sound is gone. Sound comes back after you turn the speaker off and then on again. This is a known issue and I hope QSC resolve it soon cause I`m waiting since July for a replacement. Sweetwater let me keep the refurbished speaker until they have new ones in stock but is annoying and frustrating gigging with a defective unit and cannot mic the drums.

Great sound buut...

By Gary Dow from CT on September 17, 2017

I used these speakers for the first time this weekend at a small outdoor venue. The speakers were used for live music at a moderate volume and performed well, similar to the older K12s which were also present as monitors. My only complaint with these is that QSC changed the material used to make the handles. The speakers were out in the sun, while moving them the handles were unbearably hot to the point at which I needed to bear-hug them to move them into the shade. I never had this problem with the older K12s.

Sound Cuts Out At Random Intervals

By Sweetwater Customer on November 28, 2021

I'd love to give these a 5* review but unfortunately I can't

I have the KW181s and K12s and they run absolutely fantastically. No issues (other than the casters on the subs fall apart in about a week)

I got the K12.2s earlier this year to expand my system and got them mainly because of the delay function which is incredibly useful for gigs with satellites.

Sound quality, build, overall volume, all incredible for the price. But here's the issue, whenever I add the delay in the onboard DSP, for no reason at random points the units stop outputting sound. And stop receiving signal. Power cycling the unit resolves this immediately.

I use these multiple times a week as the main PA for smaller gigs, and used without the delay I've never had an issue, but every single time as a satellite they do this.

Highly frustrating and unreliable, especially from QSC who have a pretty decent reputation.

From reading forums, complete signal loss seems to be a know problem by QSC and also quite common. Especially with units purchased from early 2021 onwards. Earlier units don't seem to have this issue.

I'm hoping a new firmware update will fix it, but beware as these units have issues with the amp module that you may end up encountering.

not quite as good as the original

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2018

i found the original k12 speakers placed side by side to the k12.2 were actually louder. funny, they are susposed to be 2,000 watt, but 3 channels. that makes them approx. 680 watts per channel. not exactly 2,000 watts as stated. my original k12's blew em away on loudness.

ok if you want to sacrifice loudness, they were as stated, just lacked.

Needs better components

By Cassidy Quinn from SYRACUSE, NY on January 15, 2024 Music Background: DJ

So I'm not your average girl when it comes to equipment. I actually take the time to read, explore, listen to others experiences, get some hands on experience and read reviews. After using a pair of QSC k12s (the originals) I loved the sound and quality, when using the K12.2s I loved them just as much as the originals. Knowing how good Qsc used to be I was in the market for a new set of speakers and needed something that could handle what I do on a weekly basis so after having good experiences I bought a pair of the 12.2s in November of 2022. Prior to owning these I had an ELX200 system which performed FLAWLESSLY for 5 years. 7 months after owning these I was DJing an event and lost the low end out of my right speaker. The speakers have never clipped, the limiter never kicked in. The woofer just stopped producing. So thinking "ok, maybe one of the connectors came loose" I got it home and pulled the woofer and to my surprise the lead wire going to the voice coil had come out of the cone with the end of the wire burned as if it had been arcing. I contacted QSC and they gave me a song and dance, plus a bunch of lame excuses and even went as far to tell me the speakers weren't under warranty (shady much). So I called Ian my Sweetwater rep and along with he and the service team made sure I was taken care of. They shipped out a replacement speaker. Last night 1/12/23 the same thing happened, only this time it was the other speaker that I had originally purchased. Now had I known I'd be dealing with quality control issues from a speaker that cost 1k per cabinet I would have went with something else. I called the service team and thankfully they were able to help me out again as I don't have time to wait 3-6 weeks for a replacement, nor do I have the funds to just rent already abused equipment from the local Guitar Center. These speakers go out at least 2-3 times a week and are never abused and when they work, they sound great. My advice is, know what you're getting and if I were to do this again I'd go back to EV at least their quality isn't compromised.

Nice sound but having Amp problems

By Michale Joseph on February 24, 2020

I bought these after using the K12 for over 4 years with no problem. I Love the sound & bass of the K12.2's but 3 months ago after having the k12.2's for about 8 months right in the middle of a gig my speaker died(No power). I used these speakers maybe 15 times and I keep my volume at 12 o'clock and plugged into a Furman power conditioner. I sent I back to Sweetwater and they repaired the amp. Just this Saturday I'm playing at a gig and another speaker goes dead with no power. Now I have to pay over $100 to ship it back for repair. I was a Huger QSC fan but I've lost all confidence in them. It's costing more than I bargained for. I think I'm going with Turbosound from now on. Two of my buddies are having the same issues with their K12.2's and a QSC 12 sub.

Sound great, but...

By Sweetwater Customer on August 4, 2019

I have had these speakers for a very short time for our band, and have only used them for roughly 4 gigs. I have had nothing but compliments on how crystal clear we sound now. The only thing that put me on the fence is that we were playing last night, and I noticed that the red light came on only on one of the speakers. The line level was nowhere near clipping and I use the yellows on my board as reds. The speaker volumes were one click before 12 o"clock. The other main never did this. I"m confused to why this only happened to one of them. For what these cost, I expected nothing like this. I will upgrade my review when I feel better about the situation.

Reliability Issues

By Johnny Nick from Vero Beach, FL on April 1, 2024 Music Background: Full-Time Professional Musician - Live Performer

I've had a pair of K12.2 speakers for four months and they sound great.... BUT.... one of them just stopped working in the middle of a gig. The power was on... just no sound. Not a blown speaker. We weren't playing very loud at all. It just died. I checked and the firmware is up to date. No settings problems. No warning of overheating. Just stopped working.

If this were an isolated incident I could understand, but it isn't. A former bandmate reported the exact same problem with one of his K12.2 speakers. Just stopped working in the middle of a gig.

I have since seen many YouTube vids of others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently, my belief that QSC speakers were worth the higher price because of the superior quality was premature.

This is not a reflection on Sweetwater. I'm pretty confident they will stand behind the product and make sure it is repaired eventually, but in the meantime, I am stuck with only one main speaker or using a mixed pair. That's NOT why I spent extra for a premium product.

Not Convinced About K12.2 Quality

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2022

My 6-month old K12.2's sounded fabulous….right up until one of them stopped outputting sound mid show. All of the input indicators showed a solid green, when only input A was in use. Power cycling did nothing, it died a sudden death. Running latest firmware. Input level was at unity gain, we weren't pushing it. A quick search revealed many other people with similar issues with the .2 line. I brought it to a local QSC-certified shop for warranty repair and am still waiting to hear about replacement parts availability. I bought another K12.2 in the interim because the shows must go on, but I seriously thought about selling the working one and switching to another brand. Very disappointed in QSC's quality.

2 ohm driver?

By Paul from Los Angeles on July 13, 2018

They achieved the double wattage by changing the driver from an 8 ohm to a 2 ohm speaker. Opinions vary but to my ears this created (ear piercing) transient spikes as I a/b'd the previous K12 and K12.2 side by side. In addition the dsp is powdery and compounds the problem. There is a bypass but it doesn't seem to be a true bypass as that digital signature is still present. The cabinet's shape has been changed and seems the resonance is more flat, but is also a bit lifeless, again opinions vary. Still better than other cabinets, but worse than the original K12. No viable studio monitor uses dsp so don't know how QSC would name one of the internal patchs "studio monitor"

What's the big deal?

By David Opperman from Aurora, CO on July 25, 2017 Music Background: Musician/sound engineer for 40 years

I've been a loyal QSC user for several years. Love my K12's, K10's and KW181's. When the "new" K12.2's came out with TWICE the power, I was pretty excited. However, after running them side by side with my older K12's, I just don't hear any improvement and realistically, I think the DSP is just more bells and whistles that aren't necessary. I will be returning the pair of K12.2's that I purchased. Not impressed.

Clarity yes, but don't expect to run drum or bass with out using a sub

By Larry from North Georgia on October 5, 2021 Music Background: 40 plus years weekend warrior

I've been performing for over 40 years and have used so many different brands. These are the most expensive I've used. We're doing a duo with midi accordion and guitar and vocals. Before this I have run with a sub but was told these things can produce the sound and do it without. First couple times of using they just shut down. Was told to keep gain on half, still shutting down, nothing worse than doing a gig and it goes down. Only way I keep them going is by taking bottom of drum machine and bass and then the sound is not full. Not happy, I've been trying to work with QSC and Sweetwater but so far haven't got a solution. If I knew I was going to need a sub I would have purchased the 8"

Multiple Failures

Our band has two k12.2, one k10.2 and one K8. Every speaker with a DSP has failed each of the four times we've used them. I recommended QSC to the boys because of their reputation for quality. We bought the speakers just before the firmware update. I wonder why we never got any updates regarding the firmware from QSC or Sweetwater? It's embarrassing explaining to a festival full of musicians why your new PA system keeps shutting down and the monitors are just 'boat anchors. Sounds great when they work. We won't be adding anymore to our inventory.

Worst speakers ever

By Rick from Ga. on February 19, 2022 Music Background: Pro audio Co.

THIS IS NOT AGAINST SWEETWATER AT ALL THE ARE GREAT TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

I purchased 6 k12.2 and 2ks118 subs. They quite working first trip out. Signal input and no output. I checked software, gave each speaker its own outlet with 20amp breaker and still have the same issue and it's random. I called qsc and after a week of back and forth I sent them back. When the came back I took them out on the road once again and the same thing happened again. I've run EV elx12's for 10 years in very abusive outdoor events and never had an issue and they are half the price. I waisted 15k on QSC crap equipment. It's not just me the forums are full of the same problem qsc has one and won't admit it or fix it. I'm done with them.

Beware, auto shutoff frequently

By Sweetwater Customer on February 18, 2022 Music Background: Drummer and sound tech of 15 years

These speakers have a known issue that they turn off in a sort of "protect mode". This happens even at moderate volume levels. I have run the old K12's MUCH harder and they never had a problem. Research the online forums and you'll find a large community of users with the same issues and minimal help from QSC. These speakers seem like they are way too sensitive to slight voltage variations and they will shut down with no warning or indication. Based on my experience and what I've read from many other people, I highly warn against purchasing these. QSC needs to fix this and they should be pulled from the shelves until they do.

By Sweetwater Customer on September 30, 2021

I've operated a concert venue for the past 7 years. I've purchased several QSC speakers and mixer over the years, been very happy with them. I set up and tear down my PA twice a week throughout the summer and rely on my equipment function. 2 of the 4 K12.2 speakers I purchased this year had to be sent in for repairs within a very short time after purchase. One of them didn't even make it through one sound check. Every time I set up the other two I wonder if it's the day they quite working for no apparent reason. Oh and repairs, good luck, 4 months expected wait on parts. Totally disappointed

Be Careful ! These units shut down intermittently. Sound great when they work.

By Andy Flickner from Carmel Indiana on June 7, 2021 Music Background: Semi Pro musician; Owner, BachToRock Music School

We unboxed our brand new QSC K12.2 speakers and subwoofer yesterday for an outdoor gig. We had A LOT of problems with the K12.2 shutting down intermittently. When the speakers were power cycled, the speakers would always come back online and play for a while longer, then shut down again. This happened all night. Taking the kick drum out of the mix to the K12.2 seemed to improve but not solve the problem. The gig was in the evening, and the speakers were not in the sun or very hot.

Looking online, I found a reddit thread in which many users are describing the exact same problem with the K12.2. Do a search on "QSC K12 2 no sound". So, this is a design issue with the speakers. It is not a defective unit.

This issue is absolutely nerve-wracking.
