The past and the future collide!

The Classic Player Jaguar Special takes everything that made the Jaguar such a revolutionary instrument in the 1960s and adds some modern player-requested touches. The alder body is loaded with new pickups that provide fatter tone and hotter output. Another interesting enhanced feature is the neck pocket is cut differently for better pitch. The trem plate has been moved to increase the break angle and improve sustain. The Classic Player Jaguar Special also sports an Adjusto-Matic bridge for great intonation. The Classic Player Jaguar Special merges the past and the present!

Fender Style
Fender guitars of the late '50s and early '60s borrowed a lot from the automobile designs of the times, which meant lots of chrome and lines that were anything but "traditional." The Jaguar used the same offset-waist body shape as the Jazzmaster (first introduced in about 1958) and added even more chrome across the face of the instrument, including a plethora of switch and control plates, as well as a separate bridge and "floating" vibrato system.

Classic Player Unique Features
There are a variety of new features on the Classic Player Jaguar Special that set it apart from its vintage-styled siblings. New pickups provide fatter tone and more output and an Adjusto-Matic bridge keeps intonation in check. Medium jumbo frets make bends easier and a new neck pocket cut provides better pitch and a comfy feel. Another cool modification from the original, the trem plate has migrated closer to bridge to increase break angle and sustain and a screw-in tremolo arm is also a stark improvement over the original. Black plastic knobs and switches round out the features.

Takes me back to '65.

This guitar takes me back to 1965 with memories of my first electric, a "Fender Jaguar". 14 years old and wild eyed with dreams of being on the radio with a #1 hit. I played that guitar until my fingers bled and kept playing to this day. I still have that guitar but it's retired like me. Still kickin', still playin' but on a new one. I have to say this one's just as good and fantastic as its predecessor. Thanks for the memories Sweetwater.

Fender Classic Player Jaguar

So here I am, an old grizzled Rocker........and I just purchased a Classic player Jag from Sweetwater.... I have to admit it was an effort to take me back to the 1963 model I used to have. In that respect it does a good job, with buttery smooth action and the tone qualities of the primo "surf' sound" it was made to play. It also seems to have a much better range of tones, possible perhaps due to modern pickups. Am I satisfied??? you bet... although Fender could have dropped the gig bag that came with it and factored in a hard-case... I have never seen a Jag, Jazzmaster or for that matter a quality Strat, carried to a gig in a bag...............so much for the Guitar.. now a word about doing business with Sweetwater.... I was amazed to see individual pictures of the two available Jags they had, linked to actual serial numbers so you could see the slight color (three tone sunburst) variations in each. I made my choice and placed my order. Usually that's all you get short of an e-mail message acknowledging your order, but a Sweetwater customer Rep called me the next day and personally updated me on shipping details. The customer service was outstanding.
