    Wow, wow, WOW!

For the longest time I was trying to decide between a P- and J-bass. I am soooo happy that I discovered this baby. Good looks? Heck, yeah! The number of compliments I got in just one day was crazy! The sunburst finish works really well, and is a timeless look for a Fender bass. But how about the tone(s)? Unbelievable! Everything from brighter j-bass tones to deep in-your-face thumping p-bass tones. The intense growl that I was looking for is definitely there. It is such a dream to play this thing finger-style, slap, or with a pick. I love that you can select to play it passive or active. I thought I would opt to replace once I received it. I am no longer considering that. I did replace the bridge with a Babicz FCH-4. IMO, this is now the perfect bass for me. Definitely consider it!

    What a growler!!!!

Really excellent bass on all levels. The Quality is top-notch, the sounds are unbelievable. The action is FAST! I really love the tonal range on this bass. The fit and finish is excellent and visually, I think it is an eye catcher. Lots of compliments from the band members.

No regrets and I am totally pleased with the bass.

One time pro, now a hobbiest

I have to admit I was surprised

with the build quality of this bass. That said, it is not a perfect instrument. There are better pickups and preamps out there. And a more modern bridge would be an obvious improvement for fans of those. But the main problem is that out of the box, it's rather noisy. A quick search of the web turns up the same complaint and the same solution over and over SHIELDING. The various control cavities are said to be shielded, but they are not connected to each other. This renders much of the shielding useless. The easy solution is to apply some copper shielding tape, from cavity to cavity (the pickguard will conceal this) and the backside of the PG itself. But while you're in there, I recommend reshielding the cavities with the copper tape. The reason is that this bass has an unusually long signal path - it travels to 3 of the body's 4 corners. This makes it exceptionally vulnerable to outside noise. After doing this to the bass, it's dead silent. As for sound? It digs in with an aggressive growl. As of there, I'm very pleased with the bass...but it can always be better - right? So, I filed some fall off onto the top 5 frets or so. WOW!!! To get the action any lower, I would have to shim the neck up. I'm only knocking a 1/2 star off, because the build quality makes the other issues worth dealing with.
