EMG JH

I've never been a fan of EMG's but these will do the trick. The best of both active and passive without oversaturation on high gain channels. Good buy.

The best set EMG makes.

Metallica released a new song today. Might as well do a review of the EMG James Hetfield Set I have had. I'm done with the honeymoon phase, so here goes... -Best EMG pickups for me. -Even better than the 57/66 set since this has that Ceramic crunchy punch. Although the 57/66 would appeal more to players who play across genres. -Took all what's wrong with the 81 and changed it for the better. The 81 was thin and compressed. This JH bridge is open with more mids and lows like a cleaner 85. Still has that 81 presence that cuts through the mix and brings out your picking definition. -Neck is very nice with clean tones. Mellower and rounder than a 60. -Hype is real. It really does sound like a passive-active hybrid. -Black chrome finish shows all your fingerprints and sweat smudges -If you are skeptical with actives, try this one and/or the 57/66 for size. TL:DR Sounds open and balls to the wall huge; yet gives you all the positive attributes of an active. Would like to thank my salesguy, Evan, for the awesome customer service. I think I might be buying more of these to change all the pickups in my guitars. A bit pricey for a set, but worth it.

Best of both worlds

Never been an EMG fan but these beat my previous expectations. Somewhat pricey compared to the blackouts but in the end a good buy.

Emg het set

These are great pickups!! Been a big fan of Metallica sents '83. I'm not really in too signature any thing, but these are nice. Bought a Gibson Les paul LPM from sweetwater, but the 61 zebra pickups don't do Metallica or any other metal all that great. So I upgraded, big time!! The packaging is awesome, nicely organized, good directions, comes with a James Hetfeild pick. I think there pretty cool, after playing sents 1983 these are my first EMG pickups and I dig them!

HetSet is Killer!!

I don't usually write many reviews but I had to make an exception for this set of EMGs. Most of my guitars have EMG's in them but I've also tried out a few blackout sets to include Gus G's signature set which is sick in its own right but I'm being honest when I say that these pups really blew me away like nothing I've heard. Metallica is one of my favorite metal bands and James Hetfield well is an incredible guitarist and then some but even with that resume, I didn't really know what to expect from this HetSet. So I bought them hoping to get more warmth and dynamics from my current 81/85 setup and I got all of that and more. These things growl when you need them to but are tame and juicy all while simply rolling back the volume knob. It's hard to describe what these things do but if I had to try to I'd say they really allow your guitars true tone to really awaken and sing through along with all the picking nuances that make you're playing unique. Yeah, this set is really meant to unleash the Metal Riffs but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the clean tones sound as well. Get this set if you mainly play Metal and if you need a more hardrock/versatile set check out the 57/66 set which are about the same caliber. Happy playing!!
