This Tiny Synth Does It All!

A tiny, mighty powerhouse, the Roland JD-Xi analog/digital crossover synthesizer gives you a true analog synth engine, along with Roland's famous SuperNATURAL synth tones, a 4-track pattern sequencer, a gooseneck mic with built-in Vocoder and AutoPitch, and USB for audio/MIDI connectivity. At Sweetwater, we were pleasantly surprised by the fat, warm analog bass and lead tones that we could coax out of the JD-Xi, just by tweaking its ample controls. On top of that, you also get other essential sounds such as pads, strings, brass, and more. One thing's for sure: the Roland JD-Xi analog/digital crossover synthesizer may be small, but it doesn't skimp on features or versatility!

Roland JD-Xi Analog/Digital Crossover Synthesizer at a Glance:
  • Analog and digital synth engines in one keyboard
  • Gooseneck mic for access to Vocoder, AutoPitch, and other vocal effects
  • 4-track pattern sequencer for building loops
Analog and digital synth engines in one keyboard

The Roland JD-Xi analog/digital synthesizer's unique crossover sound engine gives you the best of both worlds. On one hand, you get fat, warm analog bass and lead tones; on the other, you get the clarity and versatility of modern digital. The JD-Xi's monophonic analog synth engine gives you saw, triangle, and square waveforms with pulse-width modulation and an analog filter, along with an independent sub-oscillator, providing you with massive low-end power. On top of that, the JD-Xi's dual digital synth engines give you 128-voice polyphony and a plethora of top-notch SuperNATURAL synth tones, including pads, strings, electric piano, sound effects, and more!

Gooseneck mic for access to Vocoder, AutoPitch, and other vocal effects

Thanks to its sturdy, high-quality gooseneck mic, the Roland JD-Xi analog/digital crossover synthesizer is a creative tool that's amazingly fun to use. Using the Vocoder, you can sing into the mic and control your tone and pitch via sounds played on the keyboard. With AutoPitch, you can achieve the exaggerated, robotic vocal sounds that are common in modern pop and EDM. And even cooler - you can use the JD-Xi's Auto Note function to "sing" JD-Xi synth sounds without touching the keyboard!

4-track pattern sequencer for building loops

The Roland JD-Xi analog/digital crossover synthesizer's intuitive pattern sequencer, when used in conjunction with its huge selection of onboard sounds, lets you create and perform complete compositions. By using the sequencer's four tracks, you can create two digital synth parts, an analog synth part, and drums, letting you build rich-sounding loops. You get both real-time and step recording modes, as well as a TR-REC mode that is reminiscent of Roland's classic TR-series drum machines. On top of that, you get a great collection of preset patterns to help get you started!

Roland JD-Xi Analog/Digital Crossover Synthesizer Features:
  • Analog synth section provides authentic lead and bass tones
  • 2 digital synth sections with SuperNATURAL synth tones and 128-voice total polyphony
  • Gooseneck mic for access to Vocoder, AutoPitch, and other vocal effects
  • 4-track pattern sequencer for building loops
  • Pro Drum kits for high-impact beats
  • 4 simultaneous effects for sound-shaping
  • USB for audio/MIDI communication with computer music software
  • Includes a large selection of ready-to-play sounds and patterns
  • Roland's Axial site lets you download additional sounds
The Roland JD-Xi gives you powerhouse performance in a pint-sized analog/digital crossover synthesizer!

Roland hits homerun with JDXI

The JDXI is my 8th synth and even though it is the smallest, it us by far my favorite. Right out of the box you can play beats and patterns as you acclimate yourself to the layout. Once you get more comfortable you can create your own.I can spend hours exploring and enjoying everything this small keyboard has to offer.

I have my JDXI paired with an Alesis SR16 drum machine. Both machines run through a Behringer Xenyx Q1202 mixer and that runs to a Behringer Europower PMP550M 500 watt 5 channel amp to power my Behringer 5 inch 1C monitor speakers. I can play through the monitors or headphones.

The Ultimate Desert Island Synth!!

I've produced thousands of songs over my music career and have used many synthesizers and drum machines. As a gigging musician I love my Roland JD-Xi for its portability and ease of use, which allows me to create complete loops anytime with its intuitive 4-track sequencer. Whether you're after massive analog bass or smooth leads, iconic drum machines and vocoder, this keyboard is packed to the brim with features, essentially containing Roland's entire history of classic soundscapes. It's truly an incredible value, I call it my desert island synth!

Amazing sound and versatility

I needed to add a couple of synth parts to finish a track, and literally, it took 30 seconds to find the perfect sound for a low bass part, and then less than a minute to find and tweak the next sound to finish the song. Amazing tool for both creating and finishing your tracks, adding ambience and expressive highlights to bring the music to life. One of the best purchases I ever made.

Straight up Beast!

Amazing synth! You won't be sorry. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. It's basically a workstation that is extremely capable. Great sound.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
