A 5-string Jazz Bass for the Modern Player

Fender's American Elite Jazz Bass V provides players with a classic bass that's updated for modern playing styles and low-B power. You'll get the familiar round lows and clear top end that Jazz Basses are known for, without the 60-cycle hum thanks to a pair of fourth-generation Fender Noiseless single-coil pickups. An 18-volt active preamp adds a 3-band EQ and an active/passive switch. And features like a 9.5"-14" compound-radius fretboard make these J Basses effortless to play. The Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V propels one of the most popular workhorse basses of all time into the future.

Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V at a Glance:

  • Neck designed with you in mind
  • The quality is in the details
Familiar tones with a twist

Onboard the American Elite Jazz Bass V is a duo of Fender's fourth-generation Noiseless J Bass single-coil pickups. These designs deliver the Jazz Bass's familiar punch and warmth, but the Noiseless circuitry eliminates unwanted signal noise and hum, making the bass ideal for live performance and recording. The 3-band active preamp adds a wide range of tonal control with a switch to go passive if you so choose. And the ash and maple construction is a tried-and-true combination that has proven itself over decades.

Neck designed with you in mind

Fender Jazz Basses have been known for their iconic neck profiles since their introduction. Narrower and faster than a traditional P-style neck, they are a favorite of countless bassists worldwide. The American Elite Jazz Bass V continues the tradition with a comfortable contour that morphs from a "C" to "D" profile as you move up the neck. And the 9.5"-14" compound fretboard radius ensures comfort whether you're holding down the low end or delivering melodic statements higher on the frets. This neck gives you the feel of a well broken-in bass as soon as you open the case.

The quality is in the details

Whether you play sitting or with one strapped over your shoulder, Sweetwater bassists are sure you'll appreciate the comfort of the American Elite Jazz Bass V's belly and arm contours. A 5-string Fender HiMass vintage-style bridge anchors the strings either through the body or in a top-load configuration. And adjusting the neck relief couldn't be easier because of the truss rod adjustment wheel located at the butt end of the neck. But because of a pair of Posiflex graphite support rods, you'll rarely have to worry about this ultra-stable neck.

Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V Features:
  • Upgraded 5-string American Jazz Bass
  • Vintage-style 4th-generation Fender Noiseless pickups
  • Active 3-band EQ opens up your tonal options
  • An active/passive switch is a lifesaver if your battery dies
  • Ideal 9.5"-14" compound-radius fretboard
  • Comfortable belly and arm contours
  • Butt-end located truss rod adjustment wheel
  • Bone nut
  • Includes strap locks and adjustment wrenches
The Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V is a workhorse bass for today's 5-string players.

I came back home !

I received the Fender American Elete Jazz Bass V today ! WOW !! This bass is amazing. The action and setup are perfect. Playing this new bass takes me back to when I was a teenager back in 1975. I learned on a fender precision, natural/maple neck. I got rid of in 1979 -mistake. The familiar touch and sound was like a reunion with an old friend. My new jazz elite's V attention to detail exceeded my expectations. This bass flexability, electronics and sonic range eliminates the need for multi basses to get "that sound dialed in". Fender really did their homework on this one! I have played bass for 42 years, it really takes a lot to put a smile on my face then it comes to new basses. I have over two dozen bass guitars and upright basses. My wife told me I looked like a little kid playing this bass. I highly recommend this bass, It's a must have ! If your looking for a fender bass, this is the one your looking for!

Fende Jazz Elite

Best JB ever played !!

Still amazed!

I've had my American Elite Jazz V for 2 months now and I have been absolutely blown away by this bass. It is an absolute tone monster! This bass is stunning both visually and sonically. Without a doubt the most amazing bass I've ever played in the 35 plus years that I have been playing. Don't hesitate to get one. You won't be disappointed.

A new take on a classic

Great , well made , pictures do not do it justice . Neck is fast and easy to play with the compound radius neck . A bit wider than my other 5 string jazz but easy to play . This thing sounds amazing . The 18 volt preamp makes it easy to get a wide variety of tones. This thing sound like the classic jazz bass and more. Deep rich bass and full mids with crystal clear highs . My band mates were amazed and pleased . This will be my new go to bass . Thank you sweetwater your customer service is second to none .
