A Jazz Bass for the Modern Player

Fender's American Elite Jazz Bass provides players with a classic bass that's updated for modern playing styles. You'll get the familiar round lows and clear top end that Jazz Basses are known for, without the 60-cycle hum thanks to a pair of fourth-generation Fender Noiseless single-coil pickups. An 18-volt active preamp adds a 3-band EQ and an active/passive switch. And features like a 9.5"-14" compound-radius fretboard make these J Basses effortless to play. The Fender American Elite Jazz Bass propels one of the most popular workhorse basses of all time into the future.

Fender American Elite Jazz Bass at a Glance:
  • Familiar tones with a twist
  • Neck designed with you in mind
  • The quality is in the details
Familiar tones with a twist

Onboard the American Elite Jazz Bass is a duo of Fender's fourth-generation Noiseless J Bass single-coil pickups. These designs deliver the Jazz Bass's familiar punch and warmth, but the Noiseless circuitry eliminates unwanted signal noise and hum, making the bass ideal for live performance and recording. The 3-band active preamp adds a wide range of tonal control with a switch to go passive if you so choose. And the alder and maple construction with a rosewood fingerboard is a tried-and-true combination that has proven itself over decades.

Neck designed with you in mind

Fender Jazz Basses have been known for their iconic neck profiles since their introduction. Narrower and faster than a traditional P-style neck, they are a favorite of countless bassists worldwide. The American Elite Jazz Bass continues the tradition with a comfortable contour that morphs from a "C" to "D" profile as you move up the neck. And the 9.5"-14" compound fretboard radius ensures comfort whether you're holding down the low end or delivering melodic statements higher on the frets. This neck gives you the feel of a well broken-in bass as soon as you open the case.

The quality is in the details

Whether you play sitting or with one strapped over your shoulder, Sweetwater bassists are sure you'll appreciate the comfort of the American Elite Jazz Bass's belly and arm contours. A Fender HiMass vintage-style bridge anchors the strings either through the body or in a top-load configuration. And adjusting the neck relief couldn't be easier because of the truss rod adjustment wheel located at the butt end of the neck. But because of a pair of Posiflex graphite support rods, you'll rarely have to worry about this ultra-stable neck.

Fender American Elite Jazz Bass Features:
  • Upgraded 4-string American Jazz Bass
  • Vintage-style 4th-generation Fender Noiseless pickups
  • Active 3-band EQ opens up your tonal options
  • An active/passive switch is a lifesaver if your battery dies
  • Ideal 9.5"-14" compound-radius fretboard
  • Comfort belly and arm contours
  • Butt-end located truss rod adjustment wheel
  • Bone nut
  • Includes strap locks and adjustment wrenches
The Fender American Elite Jazz Bass is a workhorse bass for today's 4-string players.

What a Gem. This baby has everything I needed for whatever style of music. It arrived in excellent condition. The case included is perfect and came with a leather Fender strap with locks and of course the ajustment tools included.Slap, pull and tap with ease. If you have been playing as long as I have you will appreciate Fenders new elite quality. I would recommend this bass to all my friends. My thanks to Sweetwater for information I needed to make my purchase.

Boutique Bass at less than half the price!

I have been playing bass guitar since 1978. I am considered a semi-professional player. I play both fretted and fretless bass. Over the years I have owned several Fenders but never kept one long enough because either it felt good and didn't deliver on tone, or the tone was good and hated the neck. I am giving this history because before I give all the praise for this instrument I wanted you to know I was skeptical this bass would deliver. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful the bass or even the case really is. The Elite Case is the best built case I have ever seen. I am really impressed with the improvements on the handle. The setup was to specs, but Sweetwater always delivers basses ready to play. After a few weeks with this bass I can tell you that the tone is remarkable and cuts through in recordings. The tone shaping options are endless for my playing style. The band comments that this is one of my best sounding fretted basses. The neck contour is probably my favorite feature. It is comfortable to play as well as balanced. The noiseless pickups are noiseless. I hate hum which is why I didn't look at the other single coil bass options. The bottom line is that this bass is worth the investment. This bass has converted me to being a Fender fan!

Just played my first gig with it...Amazing...Actually it is more then what I expected!!!! You won't be disappointed...and thanks fender for stepping up your case game....

This Fender American Elite Jazz Bass is fantastic! I've played it in a church worship group, and its big, full, round, rich tone just fits and in context. I was amazed by how much of an upgrade it is from my regular bass.
