An Absolute Steal!

The quality, fit and finish and sound of this bass are excellent for a bass at any price point, but in this price range, it's truly amazing. I have purchased a Fender American Select Strat for $2,000.00 that had issues with the volume pot and tone knob and that wood wasn't near as pretty as this. The beauty of the grain in the wood (on the fretboard, back of the neck and both sides of the body) combined with the pearl inlays on the fretboard and the flawless gloss finish over the 3-tone sunburst add up to making this a gorgeous bass. I guarantee that if you inspected this bass with the headstock covered, you would think that it came from the Fender custom shop. Thanks to Sweetwater for taking many high quality photos of the actual instrument you are interested in. Their 55 point inspection is like getting a pro set up for free. It plays very well, with smooth fret edges, a comfortable neck and no fret buzz or dead notes anywhere. I'm not sure why there aren't more reviews on this model, but this is clearly the one for me.

A Great Plank to Spank

I was looking for a bass with a little more utility than my Epiphone EB-0 and saw the Squier '77 VMJ. After researching it online and questioning some musician friends who had owned/played them, I decided to make the purchase. Everything I saw on the bass was pretty positive, so I was expecting to be happy with it. The bass exceeded my expectations. Not only is it a joy to play, but it's a joy to look at and listen to. The finish is beautifully done, and action and playability was great right out of the box. Sweetwater's service on this was exceptional, too---probably the easiest online transaction that I've ever had. I highly recommend this product and company!

Great Bass!

I'm a guitar player who bought this bass to keep around the house for jamming and recording bass tracks. I didn't expect that I would use it very much, but I can't put it down - it sounds, feels, and looks great! It's very versatile tone-wise. This bass can do smooth and fat, bright and growling, and everything in between! This is a great, affordable bass that I would recommend to anyone, and of course you cant go wrong ordering from Sweetwater. It was ready to go right out of the box, and there's always free candy!
