You can expect an exceptionally strong, beautiful voice from this Martin 12-string acoustic-electric guitar, as the Grand J12-40E's large body works in tandem with a solid Sitka Spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood body tonewoods. Other appointments include a modified low oval neck, a bone nut, a solid black ebony fingerboard - graced with long-pattern diamond and square inlays - and Style "45" inlaid headplate letters, all carefully adorned on the Martin Grand J12-40E Special.

shimmering acoustics
I own a 1979 Guild 212 XL and a 1975 Guild 412, both Jumbo body. I've been to luthier shows looking for an even better 12 string, and played $5,10,20 and 30 thousand dollar guitars looking for that tone. No luck...I couldn't believe that anyone could beat the sheer volume and loudness of my Guilds, or their lengthy tones. Right out of the box this was fantastic. I knew a great guitar should be great at a young age. If it didn't have it then, would it ever? I use a heavy gauge on my Guilds, and they were perhaps a bit louder, but this was sheer magic to my ears, shimmering highs and plenty of depth on the bass response. Jumbo bodies Rule!
