The Aphex IN2 USB audio interface packs components from some of Aphex's most acclaimed products, making it a great-sounding value and a great choice for home studios and portable recording. You get two Class A microphone preamplifiers and Aphex's popular optical compressors, taken from their beloved Project Channel, and the IN2's headphone output is borrowed from their HeadPod4, noted for its fantastic sound quality and low noise floor. With a flexible and great-sounding analog front end, it's hard not to make great recordings with the Aphex IN2 USB audio interface.

Aphex IN2 USB Audio Interface at a Glance:

Quality Class A mic preamps provide vintage warmth and serious headroom

To provide you with warm and wide-open tone, Aphex equipped the IN2 with two Class A preamplifiers, the same found in their Project Channel studio channel strip. With a -20dB pad, this channel strip gives you tons of headroom to play with plus 65dB of clear gain, and phantom power for your condenser mics. You also get a 75Hz low-cut filter to take the rumble out of your recordings - factor in the optical compressor, and you've got a powerful analog front end for any recording task.

Optical compression helps you keep your dynamics under control

Aphex has always been at the top of the game where optical compression is concerned, and the IN2 packs the venerable optical compressor Aphex is known for. Operation is simple, and the sound is fantastic. It also means that you can get closer to your final sound during tracking, making your mixing job that much easier.

Exceptional headphone amp makes your life better

Aphex borrowed the design on their acclaimed HeadAmp4 headphone amplifier and packed it into the IN2 audio interface. This headphone output sounds extremely clean, has a very low noise floor, and lots of volume on tap. The clean sound and low noise means your ears won't fatigue as fast during long sessions.

Aphex IN2 USB Audio Interface Features:

aphex in2

I was EXTREMELY skeptical about ordering this thing. I have an Mbox 3 that for me just wasn't cutting it. So after months of research it came down to this, the Audient id22, or apollo twin duo. I was going to go with the apollo but then the price of this dropped from $500-400. I figured id give it a shot while i save for the apollo with the plugins i want. I called Will Newbill and told him it made me nervous that i could only find 2 reviews on this thing, despite looking on all over the internet so no one must be buying it. He assured me that he had sold many units and had gotten great feedback on it. So i pulled the trigger and i'm very happy i did. The preamps really sound great in this thing. It takes my guitar and bass and make them sound SO much better than the Mbox. I used to have to crank the gate in Amplitube3 especially when playing anything with high gain, but with the in2 i barely have to put any on. And i love the onboard compressor. Its very subtle, and kind of warm sounding. I'm not saying its a Neve, but its nice. I really like the way my vocals sound on it, and it handles my sm58 and at2035 very well. I can't wait to see how it sounds with a really good mic (future). And the headphone amp is very clear compared to Mbox, and louder. As far as the build quality- its very solid. And i love being able to turn the knobs without any dusty-crackling noises anymore. As far as latency- you don't even have to worry about it. I haven't had any issues at all. I haven't had one pop or crackle since i switched to the in2. And one of the things i like best about this interface is if you have a mac it's 100% plug and play. I would definitely still have been happy had i bought this when it was $500 and i would absolutely recommend it to a friend. As far as sweetwater- theres no one better. I support my small local music store but if they don't have something i want, i wouldn't even consider going back to guitar center for it. I have ordered many items from sweetwater, and and they are always at my door the next day, free shipping. GC takes about 4-6 days usually and i have to pay shipping. And no candy! And Will Newbill knows what he's talking about, and i know i can trust him. The kids at GC work on commission and they want to sell you what you can afford to buy, where Will helps me figure out what is best for me. Always feel 100% confident about my purchase when i order from Sweetwater.

Sweetwater Advice

The Aphex IN2 has the best headphone amp I've heard on any interface in this price range. TONS of gain, clarity, and detail. With most home studio producers primarily using headphones, I would recommend the Aphex IN2 interface for the headphone amp alone!
