Awesome AGAIN from ISP Technologies!

Oh boy! So, after going through a lot gear and selling, trading so I could trim down, I wanted an effects pedal that was simple and straight forward, line level, the ability to turn the direct level all the way down or up, run parallel in the effects loop of my ISP Theta Combo so I'd have a "live" rig that was simple to use and didn't involve any more damn rack gear!!! I played with one of these and the Theta Preamp Pedal at Gearfest at the beginning of the summer and thought it was great... so I went for it! And man am I happy!!! The delay is dark and rich and has a very nice analog feel to it... no matter the level you set on your amp, it seems to stay out of the way a bit... you can adjust the repeats by holding down the delay button to a preset series. Same with the level of the reverb in comparison to the other effects. The chorus/flange is VERY present and not at all subtle, which is great. Hold it down for a moment and it switches from chorus to flange (or vice versa). The reverb is also dark and out of the way (i.e., easy to listen to). Tap tempo on there too to set the delay time or the rate of the chorus/flange. Very "on the fly." Simple. Sweet. Not too many bells and whistles... Oh yeah, there's a non-adjustable Decimator that's built in to keep it dead quiet... Top notch gear AGAIN from the ISP Technology folks... I haven't run it with the Theta Preamp yet, but will get around to that soon! I'm having too much fun with the Impression and the Combo! Oh yeah, it's sleek and black with the white letters which fits perfect with the Combo and the Preamp. And Bart at Sweetwater (and the rest of the gang) know how to take care of customers... If you've never dealt with Sweetwater, I suggest you start.

Very limited functionality

I bought mine used. The only way to adjust an effect is by holding down the button and it cycles through a few presets. You can also sort of adjust speed using the tap tempo button and the effect level with a knob. The tap tempo is really unresponsive. The delay is dark and long and my favorite effect. The reverb is also dark and deep. I got frustrated attempting to move through the presets. And it resets to completely unusable factory presets when powered down. I found the two mod effects too over the top to be used without the effect level turned way down which also affects the delay and reverb. It also comes with a built in gate that you can't adjust. It uses a giant wall wart. Doesn't work with a 1 Spot. For my pedalboard, it wasn't practical. The effects did sound really good. Very complex. Great for David Gilmour soloing. I'll keep it for the studio.
