The IQ series redefines the X-style keyboard stand, bringing you a new level of stability and innovation. The IQ-1000 offers you a range of height settings for your playing comfort, whether you prefer to play sitting or standing up. This high quality X-style stand is ideal for supporting light- to moderate-weight synthesizers and MIDI controllers. Like the rest of the IQ series stands, the IQ-1000 holds true to Ultimate Support's twofold commitment to provide uncompromising stability while offering a musician-centric, innovative design.

Designed to hold keyboards, synthesizers, and workstations up to 100 lbs. while maintaining a compact, gigging-friendly format, the IQ-1000 is one of the most stable single-braced X-style stand you can find. Its thick, single-braced tubing, heavy-duty bolting, a generous upper keyboard shelf give the IQ-1000 the kind of stability and capacity you deserve both in the studio and on stage. If you're a gigging musician, you'll love the IQ-1000's patented Memory Lock System. The Memory Lock System is a set-it-once solution that saves you time ensuring that every time you open in, the IQ-1000 will return to the height you set. You only need to lift and place your keyboard or piano the first time.

The IQ-1000 features an inventive off-set bracing system offers you more than six height positions to comfortably accommodate your preferred sitting and standing position. This design feature gives you more knee room than any other double-braced stand, ensuring that the IQ-1000 remains out of the way and that only your keyboard stays in place during performances. An integrated stabilizing system levels out uneven surfaces and effectively eliminates annoying or possibly dangerous rocks and wobbles. There are rotating rubberized end caps with incremental thicknesses on the upper and lower tubes of the IQ-1000 to easily correct the problem, and thick rubber sleeves secure your keyboard on the upper tubes and keep the IQ-1000 firmly in place.

Good sturdy basic stand

The IQ-1000 isn't going to be as rock solid as say a QuikLok heavy stand -- but it's pretty good. I volunteer teach at a girls' rock camp program, keyboards -- most of the girls have never touched a keyboard. So I teach them things one can do immediately -- like B3-style pushes, glisses, clusters (I play B3 and synths), and holding things down til heat death of universe. We've gone through lots of keyboard stands! and the IQ-1000 has out-lasted all the others. Girls rock camp is rougher on gear, than any gigging situation! every day, the gear gets moved twice, by volunteers. If you do a gliss, a push (my term, a gliss with a cluster of notes moving at once), in a B3-style, if you push parallel to the keyboard, you will minimize tending to push the keyboard off the stand (if you push away from your body, perpendicular to keyboard, obviously you'll tend to push keyboard off stand). I'm a very serious longtime B3 player whose style includes lots of roars, pushes, clusters. One very good feature of the IQ-1000 is, you set the height you want, once, and thereafter it opens easily and automatically to that height. This is GREAT for the girls, the younger ones especially have trouble manipulating pull knobs, so we just set it and leave it be. You have to make sure the "stabilizing end caps" are adjusted to best fit your situation -- sometimes they're rotated to a position that makes it rock, just rotate them a bit to stabilize.

Too Much Bounce

I was hoping to find a light-weight stand, for my Casio Privia, that would do the job and replace the heavier, double braced stand I had been using. At first glance, the Ultimate Support IQ-1000 seems to be just that. With clean welds and a solid locking system, this stand looked to be the answer I was looking for. However, after placing my piano on it (which, by the way, weighs in at 28 lbs.), I found that the stand bounces. It could be due to the offset horizontal bars that the keyboard rests on. Nonetheless, when I stop playing the keyboard, the stand continues to bounce for quite some time. This isn't to be confused with wobble that one might get on an uneven floor. This bounce comes from an almost spring-like property of the support tubes. That said, this will not be a stand I can use on stage.

Didn't love this one. It feels sturdy enough, and it packs pretty slim, so I guess it does its job, but it would be nice if one side of it had something a little more gripping on the end. Every time I play a gliss, my keyboard tries to hop of the stand sideways. Doesn't really feel like a super balancer at full height either.
